There is no point in the guy staying at Celtic is there? The spl is already won, no competition in it.
They will never surpass last seasons CL either, Celtic our feeder club nowadays....

I could list many teams that have been? what makes you assume that we won't be?

who r you rolling you eyes at??

you stated that we will be in a relegation battle? i didnt say we would or we wouldnt but wanted to know why you would come to that assumption of that we def would be?? i pointed 4 teams over the last couple of seasons who have been promoted with squads no different to ours at the time and were not involved in a relegation battle... therefore you cannot say that 100% we will be involved...

why are you negative about everything??

Can't handle differing opinions?

Joe would struggle to get on our bench, when with us I thought he was to slow but got worse up in Scotland.

Adam has not really set the night on fire either, lucky to get a few Wales caps.

Must admit I think they are both playing in the right colour

In fairness to Ledley he could have left well before his contract ran out to join Stoke in a £6m deal. Dave Jones rightly or wrongly pulled the plug on that. It would appear from then on Joe was always going to let his contract run down so no-one could stopping him moving on at the end of it.

Yes he could have gone to Stoke on the second occasion in 2010 and we would have received some kind of compensation (as he was under 24) but he did what Wanyama appears to be doing and listened to his agents and got the best financial rather than professional deal available.

That meant joining Celtic and as they are classed as a foreign club we received no development compensation.

Hardly his fault.

everybody is entitled to their own opinion! :thumbright:

what i dont understand is how you know we will be in a relegation battle?? none of us do..

also if we can sign players at a proven level and who can make an impact then things may be different...

leaving celtic to join any premier league team is a step up, playing against sides who are some of the top in europe week in and week out infront of large crowds and worldwide audiences.. lets be honest, winning the spl is hardly a huge achievement these days is it?

yes celtic are in the champions league but so are cliftonville...

to come out and say why would any particular player want to join us as we are relegation bound is daft.

Who in their right mind would turn that opportunity down for trips to Old Trafford, The Emirates and Anfield? :?

To play devil's advocate, why would he turn down Champions League football for a relegation battle?

Money.

Agreed. Depends on the type of player I guess.

Doesnt seem to be much loyalty in football players these days, especially when they've got these agents involved.

money plays a vital part, but isnt everything for a pro...

Manuel Neuer, wet from Schalke to Bayern. First Bayern offered higher wages tha Schalke, but Schalke followed suit. Manu was even Schalke's captain ad undoubtably our number 1 for club and country. Neuer still went (despite being a local boy, Schalke supporter all his life, even a Schalke member to this day), as Bayern offered him to play on a high level every year. Champions League football, playing against the best in the World to improve himself.

Many Schalke fans call him "Judas", I don't. I can see why he did it, I didn't like it but for him it is the best way forward. Playing at the highest level will make him Germany's number 1 keeper for a long time, and who knows: maybe a World Class Manu Neuer is what we need to win a World Cup?

Could it be Ledley wants to play Champions League cos it makes him better? He gains experience there, he wouldn't get with Cardiff, that's a fact. He took the chance as it came; I know for sure he never wanted to leave Cardiff that early, but it wasn't his fault, it was the club. Still, it turned out great for him.

To put it in another context, why turn down Premier League football to remain in the SPL?

There's lots of ways that it could be "put".. For me, going to a premier league side would enhance his opportunity of becoming a big player one day. Even if it means missing out on Champions League for a season or two.

As much as I like Ledley he's clueless if he thinks from Celtic to Cardiff is a step down. Who on earth would choose SPL over the Premier League? Yes they are in the champions league but they aren't going to go far in it anyway. In the PL you play some of the best clubs in the world week in week out!
