This!!
He may have "started the dream"
but he almost killed it too.
I'd rather invite Lee Trundle tomorrow to be honest.

If this culminates in the Langston debt being paid then great, but I don't understand why the are calls for Sam to be given a position at the club.
Nothing against his tenure, a great character but just as people have said about players that must be replaced, there is no place for sentiment in football and Sam will not bring anything to the table. Too long out of the game and we have a manager and recruitment team that do not waste money and know what they want.

The club is lacking majorly in one aspect, PR. The club hasn't got a clue in that respect. Last year was proof of it and the club is being taken the pee out of at every opportunity by the national media.
Thank God Blackburn exist and have Shebby Singh as their voice or we'd be the biggest joke in English football in terms of PR after them and Liverpool with their repeated Suarez saga's.
Sam would be great as a voice at the forefront to communicate with the fans. Id accept him back in that role, he had a good rapport for the majority of his time with the fans and he did have passion for the club. I dont care what anyone says, he clearly caught the bug. He did apologise in 06 as well to the fans. Lets not forget that. He knew he made monumental mistakes. Sam should come back in that role and nothing to do with finance. Then we'd have everything we need.

Wayne S wrote:You seem to be calling for him to fill a position that doesn't really exist. I'm at odds with your theory that Sam does PR, he does headlines but not public relations. He is a character that gives the fans a bit of pride but he is a slightly mocked figure by the media and has come up with some embarrassing statements like bigger than Barcelona.
You want professional PR get a company in. It should be a Doddle now we are in the Premier League. We have all the publicity we need now we have gone up, the club sells itself and the league showcases us.
I don't think he has to apologise for anything, it's just the life of Cardiff City, all owners are in it for something other than the good of the fans, whether it's money, self publicising or in Sam's case to be idolised. he loved it and at the time we loved giving it.

All Black Everything. wrote:Wayne S wrote:Fair enough and good response. One issue with this though is 'you want professional PR, get a company in'. Thats more money going out and no help on the Langston Debt. I'd rather Sam be given a 'PR' position as Chairman and some shares to solve the Langston debt than yet more money going out on overheads especially considering we are losing money each month.
The Premier League money is paid in a structured manner, not a lump sum. So we need to tread carefully on expenditure still especially if we are to compete on the playing field.

In respect of that particular quote , no . It would have gone to the tax man and not players . A statement that was purely aimed at drawing up fans emotions . Don't get me wrong , massive financial mismanagement under sans reign though , not arguing that . But he started where we are today
