The guy is a world class tool. You have got to admire his relentless pursuit of the impossible mind. Look at the definition of world class and then argue any Swansea players are. He says he only deals in facts and so is now hoisted by his own petard.

Almost as good as saying Williams playing for his country contributes to him being "world class", yet Michu NOT playing for his country has no effect.

Where have I relied on a managers opinion? You did that.

I simply shared other managers views ASWELL as stating performance based facts as to why he is world class. Same goes for Williams, the fact he's the best performing defender in the best (or second best) league in the world is what I'm basing it on, the fact he's captain of his country was just showing he's a leader at ever level which is also vital in a defender.

The Michu debate is odd. I'm not sure what you want of him to then become world class. As soon as he gets a call up does that then automatically change your mind?

World class : players playing at the top of their game. Not players who are in a middle table prem club who can't get into their national side.

So you can't have a world class player who doesn't play for a top of the league side?

I think Michu playing at the top of his game is a perfect description of what he is doing is it not? Last year he was a midfielder in what you describe as the best league in the world and finished top goalscorer, this season he has been sometimes a midfielder and sometimes a striker and is the highest scoring spaniards in the world and 3rd in the prem only to van Persie and Suarez.

Ashley Williams performing the best out if any defender in the league.

Surely this is playing at the top of their game?

Re: Jack bitterness

Where have I described it as the best league in the world? What a total guess.

As I said, a world class player should surely be at least given a call up to their international side. Michu, despite being watched by Spainish coaches, has not done so, despite a few opportunities.

Do excuse me, that was rather presumptuous of me.... However surely you are not suggesting that neither Spain or England are the best quality leagues in Europe?

As we have touched upon you are basing your opinion on Michu on del basques opinion and ignored my question... Once he gets a call up does that mean he is then automatically world class in your eyes?

I'm basing my opinion on the general consensus that a player can hardly be world class, if he's not received a call up.

World class is MESSI, Ronaldo et al - hardly the same bracket as Michu.

Neither is van persi, aguero, tevez or rooney, but they are still world class.

You dodged both questions there.

Are you suggesting neither spain or England have the best quality top league in Europe. And once Michu gets a call up will that en change your mind and automatically make him world class.

Re: Jack bitterness

Tue Apr 16, 2013 10:30 am

Van Persie, AGUERO, Tevez & Rooney are still a cut above Michu.

Once Michu Recieves a call up & starts performing on the world stage & actually wins something worthy of a world class player (not a secondary cup, competition) then ill agree he could be classed as such.

Anyway, that's it from me. You have an opinion, I happen to disagree with it. That's the beauty of forums.

If you excuse me, I've got a promotion party to prepare for. :ayatollah:

I don't see the relevance to answering those questions. You've dodged many questions yourself in the past using that very reason.

For the record. I feel that Germany/Spain have the best leagues. Michu did well in Spain, but needs to do more than that to be granted world class.

Interntional stage & Champions League stage - a world class player would have to grace these and perform well in them to be described as "world class" surely?

Prime example - Gareth Bale. Sure, does well in the premiership (just like Michu) but has also graced the premier European competition and has done well on the international stage too.

When Michu does something similar, maybe he will be given that particular title.

Do you disagree chuckles? Surprised by that to be honest.

Ashley Williams is probably the best Center back in the league at the moment and is the subject of a £10 million bid by arsenal and Liverpool. Michu is the highest scoring Spanish players in any of the top leagues and widely tipped for a call up to the most successful international side in the history of football. Only Suarez and van Persie has scored more than him in the premier league.

well there we go then. Last year he was the highest scoring midfielder in the best league in the world.

Interntional stage & Champions League stage - a world class player would have to grace these and perform well in them to be described as "world class" surely?

so neymar will never be world class as he may never play in the champions league? Michu plays for Swansea, the chances of them playing in the champions league are slim, that can't contribute to how good a player Michu is though. He's worth probably £20 million. Not many clubs have that amount of money, and those that do already have world class attackers. That argument doesn't really stack up. He's playing in one of the best leagues in the world and clearly one of the best players in it.

Prime example - Gareth Bale. Sure, does well in the premiership (just like Michu) but has also graced the premier European competition and has done well on the international stage too.

but that's down to him laying for spurs and being born in Wales. If he was Spanish and played for Swansea the same would apply, I doubt he would have a call up and wouldn't be in the champions league - yet he's still be the same player.

When Michu does something similar, maybe he will be given that particular title.

Michu has done everything he possibly can. He is top Spanish goalscorer, third in the Prem and outperforming most attacking layers in the league. The fact he doesn't play in the champions league is down to him playing for Swansea, the fact he isn't an international is down to the fact he's born on Spain and has other established world class players already there. That's not to say he isn't ASWELL.

What odd comparisons, grant holt got 15 by the way and you know that neither stat is better than Michus right?

We're either the third highest goal scorers in the league and also highest goal scoring players in their position in la liga the year previous?

Well there we go. We'll agree to disagree. I'm not going to clog up this forum by going around in circles. For me, he needs to do more than score goals in England to be "world class" - as another poster just said, Grant Holt scored lots last season, yet isn't world class.

I've got a promotion party to plan for! :ayatollah:

odd comparsions?

Holt scored the same amount of goals as michu has so far, lambert is 3 behind in the same league against the same players.

lambert was also the top scorer in his league the season previous.

grant holt was also the second highest scoring brit that season. the season before, the second highest scoring brit was DJ Campbell

Andy johnson scored 32 goals getting palace to the prem, then scored 21 in the premier league. Is he world class?

truth is none of them are, even michu.
