The SWD would be great in the PL but I'm not a person for derby games there is so much at stake 3 points and bragging rights. Don't like the hype around derbies either makes me sh*t a brick.

It's definitely a derby if you live anywhere outside Cardiff. It's been bloody agony the last two years!!!
I can't wait ( inshallah, touch wood etc)

Ignore GrangeEndStar, the Gower and it's whereabouts is his favourite topic of conversation. Shall we start a new thread, or start a new debate on this one? P.s, might take a while getting back to you coz I've goto dust off all those old facts and figures, political and geographical maps, pie charts and graphs that I stored away, not thinking I'd need them again. If you even consider starting another Gower thread I will personally buy Paxman a season ticket so he is sitting next to you in the Leprosy Stadium. Your season will be ruined as a result of his obsessed, effeminate, annoying, incessant, petty, small-cocked, small-minded, self-important, boring drivel. He is that boring he would drive a buddhist to drink bleach.

I agree with ScotsJack's cousin! Just spend some time in a two-club city, then you'll see what a derby is! Although, the more successful of the two clubs will always pretend that the derby is not important. It is!

I've been to a Soton Pompey derby and it's pretty much a one sided affair, Pompey fans are a horrible lot and Portsmouth is the pimple on the arse of Hampshire the Chav capital of England the whole place is a rat hole,Southampton is a much nicer area with the New Forest on it's door steps and pretty much a family club.

I was living in Sheffield the year they played each other in the FA Cup semi and it was incredible how everyone was obsessed by it. Massive buzz in the city. Wouldn't happen like that in S Wales because too many people don't give a toss about football. It's a religion there.

Anyway, the Gower definitely isn't in Swansea...

Exactly, people who think Cardiff-Swansea is the biggest derby about need a reality check.

I went to a Saints Pompey derby about 10 years ago at St Mary's. I was disappointed by the atmosphere. Regarding trouble Pompey were looking for it and a fair few were nicked. Pompey is a fairly tough place and has much more of a reputation than Soton. Soton though is a dive with some really tough estates (Weston, Thornhill, Northam and Millbrook are notorious for drugs, knife crime etc) and they have a fair few 'lads' banned but have no reputation so if they get into bother little is reported. The media in the South portray Pompey in the Cardiff role as the bad lads whereas saints get away with murder.

When I first started to go down the city I was told by my brother's mate that the worst trouble he saw was at Soton, mid 70's
at a park by the old Dell were both set of supporters when toe to toe.

The Gower is not part of Swansea geographically at all but when you think of the Gower you also think of Swansea. I'd say the Gower is part of the wider Swansea area.

FFS, I hate the club not the f*cking city. Pathetic from our fans, obsessed isn't the word.

Both my children go to 'gwyr' or 'Gower' school. The school is situated in Gowerton, or Gower town which is most certainly in Swansea. But I'm with 6bysedd on this. I really dont give a f**k enough to argue over it so it's my only say on the subject! Gower or the Gower Peninsula (Welsh: Gwyr or Penrhyn Gŵyr) is a peninsula in south Wales, projecting westwards into the Bristol Channel, and administratively part of the City and County of Swansea. In 1956 Gower became the first area in Britain to be designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
