Re: If you can't accept RED then go and support another team

Sun Aug 27, 2017 1:56 pm

Every club has Fairweather fans who only turn up when teams are doing well, every club also has die hard fans who go all the time and every club has fans who want to go and can't afford to or have other commitments stopping going every game.
Attendences will increase if we are doing well, whether they are wanted there or not,imo the more the merrier they have paid to watch the game and are supporting the team I really don't see the issue

I doubt the OP goes to any games now.

It was a statement that annoyed most and was used by the red brigade quite a lot. One thing I have noticed is those who accepted the red are now trying to justify their stand and to be honest making themselves look like soar losers. Well you know what they say when you lie with dogs.

Some of the comments in this thread are quite sickening to be honest. Nobody has the right to tell you what you should or shouldn't do, but everyone had the right to fight for the identity of our football club back then. I will never forget feeling like an away fan in my own stadium for the Brighton game surrounded by 95% of "Bluebirds" taking the red scarf. The only reason I still go to games now is because the thousands of fans we took away were ALL blue. I've gone to more away games than home games ever since.

Of course, there were some loyal City fans who weren't bothered by the rebrand, but the majority of those loyal fans were very reasonable and understanding towards fans like myself who were upset by the rebrand and protested to get our identity back. The rebrand caused so much division, was totally unnecessary, and clowns like the person posting this thread caused nothing but arguments, and even hatred between ourselves.

Hopefully, we can all move forwards united again now and enjoy our great start to the season.

Yes Sven the infamous day when Malky was no more to be with us.

The reds used to post on here telling us to just foo-foo off if we didn't support the rebrand.

Now I'm telling them to foo-foo off, if they want a prem club Swansea are a short drive away, if they want a red club Liverpool were brilliant today.

Don't come back here cos we're top of the league.

What a load of bollocks. Most fans realised that we were up a creak without a paddle financially after the Ridsdale years and needed Tan's help to keep the club afloat.

95% of fans wore blue throughout the whole period of rebrand including those who mysteriously disappeared after relegation. It was always a case of time before it was reversed and in the meantime we got over £100m of VT's money pumped into this club.

Rather than fabricating stories about heroes and villains we as a fan base should be proud of saving our club, getting millions invested into it and reclaiming our identity. The clever ones were the ones who understood this, the stupid spoilt brat fans are the ones who stamped their feet and cried hysterical nonsense like the stuff posted above.

Tell me Tony...if Tan turned out to be a fake with no money and we went down the Portsmouth way would you have gone along with it?

If I could be bothered now, I could drag up dozens of posts telling people if they want to be part of the rebranded Cardiff to just foo-foo off.

No proper football supporter would accept their identity ripped from them.

It's like when I went to a valley rams meeting a long time ago, the speaker said there is no bigger Welsh man then him, yet he spoke English and I doubt he can any Welsh anyway.

No real Cardiff fan wore red and a proper Welshman speaks Welsh.

Man City home in 2013 half the stadium were wearing red.

And in other news. That was years ago and we are top of the league :-)

Guys. I personally think this thread should be locked. Red was a significant part of our history. A hugely unpopular and poorly thought out part. But still a part. The lessons have been learned and efforts to repair the damage have been made. How about we move on and enjoy the fact we have a manager that we are all behind and a team presently playing some superb football. We are top of the league and long may it continue. (In blue - and an unusual yellow when away!!!)

Threads can be brought back to life if the serve a purpose but the return to blue makes this thread redundant.

Unless we are actually starting a campaign to only allow 'die hard fans through the turnstiles.

Cleansing I think they call it when the stakes are a lot more serious.

There might have been the odd fan wearing red (usually young children who wanted the latest new top) but where I was standing I don't remember ANYONE wearing red we were all decked out in blue as we were before the rebrand and since the reversal.

Also looking around the ground @ the Man City game I can't remember thinking wow look at all that red :? The Brighton game was a one off which has since entered urban myth that most fans wore red at all home games, that is plainly and totally untrue.

Finally look up photos of the 'we'll always be blue' sung @ 19minutes 27seconds and you won't spot a red scarf anywhere.

That's how I look at it. The Red was a poor idea which was sold to us as a way of making this club rich and stable due to massive revenues from the Far East. It didn't work and has now entered the annuals of history.

If any good came out of it, then surly no foreign owner will try such nonsense again at any club. Also as a club we are showing brilliant resilience by dragging this club back up and repairing the damage done.

Unfortunately some fans can't let it go and even if every reluctant red was shot at dawn they would still find a way to moan about something else and look for retribution elsewhere.

Really the only way ahead is to call them out and then point out the utter nonsense that they post such as 50% of fans wore red  :banghead: and 'embraced' it. They simply fail to take all of the circumstances into consideration including our historic debt which was ran up by the football comic duo of Hamman followed by Ridsdale and the fact we had a financial gun pointed at our heads and needed a way out.

We have done that but of course we had to endure extreme pain to do so. That is the true legacy of the rebrand and a very important part of our history.

I clicked onto this thread thinking it was an argument in favour of Barry Chuckles red trousers. I know they don't exist anymore as Nukes set fire to them on Sloper Road and then called a priest to perform an exorcism just to make sure.

Honestly can't see why this is a sticky.
Yes it was a horrible time BUT we are in a different place now - let's just enjoy it surely.
Some things are best left in the past.
My opinion anyway.
