Football Manager 2013

What are you guys using for style of play? I normally use attacking but it wasnt working for my team so I switched to balanced and I'm still not convinced!

mate i usually take a week to find my perfect tactic. usuaully create one that suits any team i play as. once you create the tactic. go on holiday till xmas. then see how the teams got on. that usually gives me some idea if my tactic is correct.

if im a small team i look to attack/control at home or contain/counter away

If im a big club, control home, attack away apart from if im playing a decent side

Coming up to december I'm top of the championship playing a short passing wide 4-1-2-3 formation with inside forwards and the defensive midfielder as anchor man,I signed papa boupa diop on a free for this position and plays by well (when he aint injured) I've been getting best results lately playing attacking balanced at home and control balanced away

I've bought it too on steam.Im clueless about signing people and getting players motivated,any tips would be welcome. I'm in the lowest league with Havent and Waterlooville I think

I played FIFA manager 2012 before FM12, f*cking hated it.

I loved the concept of the game, with all the behind the scenes and club infrastructure. But the players were thick as shit. They'd go in for the stupidest challenges and I'd get a red card every game, sometimes 2. Asked around and looked online everyone had the same problem

There is a great right back that I got on loan from spurs, think he was in the youth team but I had him on a season long loan at 18 and he was better than both kev and Connelly, ended up worth 5mil at the end of his loan with a transfer fee of 7.5 mil asked. Didn't get him for the prem sadly. Got some euro players' and some under 21 players for national teams. Running mid table in my first seasoning the prem half way through. Took one season to be promoted via the play offs simply because it took so long for my formation to click I think.

anyone found any little crackers in the lower leagues. i love raiding the low clubs for their future key stars

If anyone's playing Lower than Championship, if it's anything like FM12 get Adam Reach from Middlesbrough. Always made an impact straight away then in a year or two plays at Championship level easily. Left winger

anyone tried Classic mode yet? whats it like?

Mason Bennett from derby is a quality player! Get him in after a few seasons of first team football etc becomes worth a lot of money, also mutch has a great potential on there as also being listed on there as "The Next Frank Lampard"

i find danny wilson and flannagan on loan from liverpool do a great job.

Mason plays for whitts when needed,

and mutch for either CMids.

I play, direct, narrow, drilled crosses, and a high defence line.

then shouts of, pump ball into box, get the ball forward, early crosses, work ball into box, stay on feet, hassle,

got promoted with 2nd place, just finished the league now, going to invest and change alot for prem.

its just arrived....will install it tonight, as last night i couldnt get a wink of sleep and im now f*cking shattered.

i leave the fb and cb as it is, i dont really toggle with them. i do have the keeper as a sweeper keeper though if i push up.

I use tommy smith as a replacement for helgusson and as a replacement for my Noone, Its a 50/50 with noone and smith, noone just plays more as i end up with smith covering helgusson. and mason normally covers bellers who ends up injured alot.

Ive not signed him yet but Nicola Ventola lookss different class even though hes old in the states.

Im aware that there are probably threads like this floating around somewhere but i couldnt find any...

Atm im struggling with Cardiff on FM13, im using the tacic , 4-2-2-2 as a false defence tactic with 2 poachers up top!

What are you guys using and where are you in the league? Any inspired signings to share with the rest of us?

Im bristol city on fm - and on my first season i got reccomended thomas hitzlsperger and he came to me on 7k a week, he pretty much kept me up

Nah I haven't tried it didn't like the set up of it but it looked like it got awsome results on fm base but I think it depends on players you got team ect

My tactic was 4-5-1 Defensive with passing style short,

I had Velikonja/Maynard as an AF

Bellamy/Conway as IF Smith as W

Whitts as CM:A Gunnarson or Mutch as BB:S

David Fox (on loan from Norwich) DLP:D

Then pretty standard back four.

That and a mix of 442 long ball got me the title.

Change the match preparation to defensive positioning or defending set pieces?

Try put your dm as an anchor man that seems to to a job for me

Cheers cakey ill give it a try, I was doing ok after a few games but i just lost 6-1 at home to Millwall, something is deffo wrong haha!

Adryan (AM) 875k Release clause, he gets amazing. May struggle with a work permit though.

Also signed Dean Moxey from Palace, he's proved to be quite good. 2nd in December, forms a bit up and down but should hold on.

Sold Conway and smith to raise some cash but TG didn't gimme a decent cut of those profits either, bought Darron Gibson for £2 million and a foreign right wingback for a million with a thought of playing 5 at the back incase I was gonna get blown away in the prem, didn't seem to work well though so I've switched back to 442.

So far I've lost 4 drawn 2 and won 1 in the prem, gonna be a long season I think.....

dont worry mate, stick to your tactic which won you promotion. because your teams reputation will be lower than most in the league. the players usually play out of their skin. and the opposition will get complacent. sure you might lose a few on the way, but you will win aswell. just set yourself targets e.g. 10 points out of the next 5 games. 25 points by january 1st. because in december, depending on where you are, will give you an idea on whats needs strengthening.
