A forum for all things Cardiff City

Ronnie Barker (DJRonnieb)
Age 67
supporting city since 1956
supported city in all of their cup winners cup exploits in europe (How i miss those trips)
beating Sporting Lisbon 2-1 away was in my opinion better than beating Real Madrid at home considering the tense atmosphere that we had over there which was made worse because we outplayed sporting lisbon
My favourite players over the years are Brian(Daisey)Walsh,Danny Malloy,Graham Moore,Colin(Rock)Hudson,Johnny Watkins,Peter Hooper and more recently Chops ,Willie Anderson,Ian Gibson, Barrie Jones,Andy Legg
Greatest moments over the past years and the most proudest was my daughter Jessica leading the city team out every week as Miss Junior Bluebird for a full season and us getting promoted the same year
the lows watching city are every time we lose im never very happy especially if the jacks win
have always been very proud to support the city and also being chairman of the supporters club during David Goldstone time as owner of the club was an acheivement as Mr Goldstone was never really intrerested in Cardiff City only any money that he could make from the club
However i did manage to win him around and before he sold the club he was beginning to take a bigger interest in the club and the supporters and started phoning me on a regular basis to check if the supporters were happy
I still have the same passion now as i have always had
i have my season ticket in the grand stand and support the team on away trips when ever possible

I'm what most of you on here would probably call a "plastic" I'm a Liverpool fan originally from Bettws, Bridgend. I'm now living in Liverpool, have done for the past 12 years, I go to every Liverpool home game and most aways, I always look out for Cardiff results and try and get to a game when I'm "home" visiting family. I've got a few mates that post on here and a few others that some will probably know from Cardiff games.
The first Cardiff game I went to was around 91-92 I think, v Burnley, we bunked in at half time, it was the game where it was 0-0 until the 88th minute and Gavin Ward dropped a clanger for Burnley to score, I think it eneded up 2-0, both teams were pushing for promotion at the time and there were some interesting scenes outside after the game.
Best memory watching Cardiff was the Man City game in the Cup, again me and a mate had to bunk it he knew some fella
who worked the Bob Bank turnstiles, but for this game he was on the Grandstand so we spent 90 minutes sitting on the steps trying not to get thrown out. Also great memories from the Boro game the same season and being on the pitch at the "throw seats at children" match.
I still keep a ticket from the Shrewsbury promotion match in 94 in my wallet and got it signed by Jason Perry when I met him whilst working at Linekers Bar in Tenerife in 98, he was with Bristol Rovers at the time, we were on the piss them a couple of nights, him and a very young Barry Hayles who went onto play for Fulham. He signed it Good piss up Pezza!
Anyway enough rambling, good luck for the coming season.
