Cape Verde were superb. Their ball retention, movement, athleticism and determination to be first to every ball was outstanding. What a team !
I doubt if Argentina will face tougher opponents all tournament.

A country with a population of half a million pushing the World Champions for 2 hours. The FAW should be breaking the CV managers door down, offering him the Wales job.

Canada v Morocco gets underway at 6pm as the Last 16 begins.

HT: Canada 0-0 Morocco
Canada probably been the better side but it remains goalless.
Bad news for Morocco is their main striker Saibari went off injured.
Six yellow cards shown by Premier League referee Michael Oliver.

Morocco leading 1-0 with a cracking goal as the yellow cards keep mounting up.

Finishes 3-0, scoreline a bit harsh on Canada.
Canada the first co-hosts to exit.
Morocco will play Paraguay or France in the quarter finals, that game kicks off at 10pm.

I can't see Paraguay posing much threat to France.
Mbappe may see it as a chance to put himself in control of the golden boot race.

Love this
Canada 0 Morocco 3

Let’s get USA OUT
Sat Jul 04, 2026 9:56 pm
Quite a poor game so far.
Obvious that Paraguay's plan is to play for penalties.
Sat Jul 04, 2026 10:36 pm
Paraguay got what they deserved.
Hopefully France stick another 2/3 on them.

That ref needs to grow a pair too
Did you see the way they smothered the penalty spot
Sat Jul 04, 2026 10:41 pm
This ref is not doing a lot to protect the French players, hes letting Paraguay kick them all over the park

Very inexperienced. Absolutely agree with you, no backbone.

I thought Michael Oliver showed too many yellows in the earlier game, but this referee is on the opposite end of the scale.
Sat Jul 04, 2026 11:00 pm
Ref needs to be sent home as soon as this is done.

Probably end up referring in the Championship

France are through to face Morocco.
I did find it funny when the Paraguay players were trying to wind up Mbappe and he just laughed at them

What's the new offside rule that Allan mentioned?
Wenger wants to give a few more inches to the attacker, which doesn't change marginal calls at all, it may lead to a few more goals though
If correct it will mean if there is light between attacker and defenders he's offside other than that hes onside so the two saw yesterday would be onside... its far easier to see daylight between players than than it is to see who's wearing bigger shoes or who's got bigger nose like it is at moment?
It won't change marginal calls Allen, it just kicks the can down tne road

I agree; Oliver in the France game wouldn't have allowed that BS, but he nearly ruined the first game with the I am in charge rubbish
