Sorry, but aren't you aware of what a football crowd is like?

So that justifies it?! Listen, I'm against all this usual PC bollox that, but swearing in front of children makes my blood boil

If you can't stop yourself "F'ing" and "C'ing" you've either got tourrettes, you're thick or you're a scumbag/chav! Call me old fashioned, but it's called respect, something you don't see a lot of these days

You are old fashioned.
You don't know what a chav is.

Ask a million people, whether they have ever been to a match or not, what goes on in football crowds and they will unanimously agree on swearing. This doesnt mean it is right or wrong, it just means that everybody knows this.

Anyway, we didnt ask for someone to bring thier kids into an area of the ground where me and my friends enjoy swearing loudly, football is emotive, swearing is emotive language.

If you take children into a stand that is not the family stand and are offended by swearing, perhaps the "thick" one is a little closer to home.

(EDIT: I wasn't actually at the game, and I don't excessively swear at any game, I was speaking on behalf of grown ups who think that the referee made a f**king sh*t decision, and want to express that without worrying about offending children)

You cannot justify it. I understand all of the above, yet it doesn't make it right. Yes the OP should have expected that this was likely to happen, and personally I would not take my children to anywhere but the family or grandstand.

But any self respecting adult within the vicinity of these kids should have acknowledged their presence and restrained themselves. It is possible to be passionate and express yourself and have banter with your mates without swearing

Well, for me - If you are aware of what something is like, you then cannot complain about it afterwards?!

I don't swear uncontrollably at the games - I do swear and shout now and agin, but that's what a football crowd is like. Aren't you against chants with swear words in it too?

I'm neither a scumbag or a chav, by the way.

I swear my bollox off too, but as soon as there are children or women around I stop all "F" and "C" words, and it doesn't affect my enjoyment of the game one bit, and the vast majority of people I know would do the same.

Ok, maybe it is naive to expect that to happen as most people seem more concerned with swearing so as not to spoil their own enjoyment of the game whilst spoiling the experience of the parent and their inocent toddler sitting nearby, but that's what should happen in an ideal world. Like i said, I wouldn't put my kids in that situation in the first place, but the kids were there and they had their experience ruined because of it

Thanks for reading my post properly

Swearing, to many, in certain situations (including football) is knee-jerk. You accidentally hit your thumb with a hammer, you swear, you see a player fly in and snap Bellamy's ankle off the ball, you swear. You don't plan to, it just happens. This is avoidable if you are vigilant and constantly think about not doing it, at expense of relaxing and enjoying the game you have been waiting all week for.

If you're in the cinema or something fair enough, but at the football, when there is a designated family stand? Reeealy? C'maaan.

Woah, you got the wrong guy, pal.
I'm on your side. Read my posts again.

The cinema thing was just saying if there is excessive swearing at the cinema, then fair enough, you can complain, but not at the football.
Seriously, I thought I'd made my point very clear. I've posted a few times in this thread. I'm in favour of swearing at football.

So is a pub, doesnt mean you have to swear and act
Up if there are kids, women or old folk in there.

Its all about respecting the situation you find yourself in.

Personaly, I would nevet swear in front of a child
Be it at the football, beach, pub or anywhere.

Quite shocked that people think its justifiable because its a football match but there you go

They have a family stand for kids.

Sorry pal, you say you couldnt get tickets.....yet you took your kids to a place you knew there would be bad language. If your that against it you should have thought about your kids first before watching the city.

Out of interest can you clarify "routine bad language"? where does C^&T sit in the brezza scale of bad language severity?

For the sake of the kids i have censored the bad language - for the uncensored version please inbox me :D

Where did i say that i would swear around children??

You cannot however, expect 20+ people in earshot of the child, in the NON FAMILY section of the stadium to all of a sudden change what they have been doing week in week out.

The family section is there for this type of situation, if you couldnt get tickets thats just tough and you shouldnt have gone (aimed at the OP)

If I took my 12yr old to see an 18 film, i wouldnt then complain about the content im afraid.

They should be reprimanded, if they continue they should be removed as its the family section, nobody can condone foul language in that section as its there for familes.

Re: Ashamed Bloobird

This thread is bordering on stupid.

Men swear at football when they are pissed up, so do women, same as when they
are in the pub. Would you take your kids to a rough old public bar, or would you
find a 'family area' or a quieter pub? Personally, I do not swear a lot in front of
women or kids, its how I am. But I'm not a clown, and not am I about to slag off
those that dont curb their language. What does the o/p intend to do about those
sat in front of him?? For the life of me, right now, I could not tell you who was sat
behind me Saturday, It could have been the pope for all I know. or a few seats to my left or
to my right. Is the o/p suggesting we should check the vicinity before swearing???
Or perhaps lets go totally rugby and not have songs with any swear words at all??

There IS an area where kids can go and probably not hear very much bad language.

Its NOT the school playground (even in junior school)

Its NOT the swings and roundabouts in the local park

Its the Family Stand at Ninian Park.

Re: Ashamed Bloobird

Only if someone swore directly at my kids would i be offended.

I find it funny when someone looses their head and lets off a volley of abuse.

if its done on tv its called comedy but at a football match its offensive.
i wish you soft cuntz would feck off :D

glad to see most of the people on here know the score :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

watching the footy at the CCS is an outlet for many people to let off steam and not have to worry about the PC brigade jumping on their backs.

the cinema 18 rated movie is a good analogy...... :ayatollah:

So because I don't condone swearing infront of kids im a soft C**T??..

AT the end of the day OP shouldn't have taken kids to the ninian stand if he's offended by swearing......but he did, and there were kids there on saturday and i would have expected any self respecting adult who had seen them and was sat within hearing range to at least try and curb their swearing a bit (obviously the odd words is going to be said). Those that didn't in my opinion are scum.

What your suggesting is then, that if by accident, some geezer plonks his 8 yr old in the middle
of hundreds of pissed up footy fans... THEY should shut up? Really? I'd think the sensible solution
would be for HIM to move. Same as if some pissed up loon started f'ing and blindiong in the Family

As a previous poster pointed out, within shouting distance in a stadium are dozens and dozens of people, do you really expect people to look at every single person, even behind them, before calling the referee a w*nker?
