thats what i just said??? at some point it will go wrong and the slide will begin, if sell best players it will go wrong at some point always do! classic exsample was city when sold toshack didnt replace him result lost out promo, everyone knows we would have gone up that season if tosh stayed!.

But if you sign a player that struggles you just tend to buy another one do you not?

The season before last they signed Danny graham to replace borini, who hasn't really done that much and now isn't in their starting line up. They haven't really replaced him either yet are still 7th so will buy again in jan.

I think your over dramatising things a little.

maybe so but i am making a sound point! if get rid best player all the time, and they have got rid of good players last season, at some point you wont replace like for like? doesnt always follow i grant you but then will good players want to come to club that sells its best players? lack ambition percieved by potential targets? just thoughts nothing else!
and dont mean swans particulaly any team its the same principal

yes maybe so but are you not worried you keep losing players/managers frequently! doesnt matter how much get for him at some point its going to cost you on the field!

Possibly one day it will come back and haunt us, but the money in the bank from such deals will make it easier to cover future mistakes, if and when they happen. That's my take on it anyway...

wont argue with you there, but as just said will it put off good players comeing to you? percieved as un ambitious club? just a thought? then will you only get mercenaries after money rather than play for club? it does happen.

I think getting Laudrup in was a very ambitious move, but you might be right? We are what we are, a club that was on its arse and bounced back... We aren't one of the big boys, but we are doing well. I would disagree with the mercenaries bit though, that doesn't seem to be our style at all.

will say you keep defying odds, expected you to drop more points recently but fair play can only play whats in front of you
and youve done good job, but i do think ncastle/arsenal not at there best by long way, ok maybe mercenary wrong word but might have to pay more to atract higher quality players, as at moment getting bargains will that last though?

Un ambitious, what sort of word is that?
We are building on three fronts, youth academy, first team state of the art facilities and with a bit of luck with planning, we are adding 12,000 seats.
I wouldn't say Swansea City lacked any ambition. Furthermore, we will do it without mortgaging it's soul

Nothing wrong with putting bidders off in January. I seem to remember Cardiif have done the same thing over the years. I am sure nobody wants Whittingham to leave in January so value him at £15,000,000 and tell them to feck off.

Our academy has been up and running for years and the gems it has produced have kept this club afloat over the years! :ayatollah:

Stadium? Adding an extension to a ground you don't own.. Oh yes, great idea.

£30m means nothing.

We could put £200m on Whitts

Doesn't mean we are going to sell him for £200m

So what would u do, stick with 20,700? It's not enough, thousands more want to come through the gate

Re: £30m for Michu

Mon Dec 10, 2012 2:08 am

If Michu wants to go in January he will go. Dempsey fought long and hard to leave Fulham to the point where he made it basically impossible for him to stay. If Michu does the same then Swansea will have to sell at a more realistic price which I'd say is around £8-14m depending on how much a team wants him, a bidding war etc.

Even £8m is £6m profit so its great business by the Jacks.

Re: £30m for Michu

Mon Dec 10, 2012 7:50 am

That's such nonsense JB.

Messi cost Barca nothing, that doesn't mean selling him for £6m would be good business. The price someone was bought for has no relevance on his value. Michu is top goalscorer in the premier league, highest goal scoring Spanish player in Europe off the back of being the highest goal scoring midfielder in la liga.

His market value would be upwards of £20 million. If you think the jacks will sell for £8m then you are out of your tree. They showed in the ferrie bodde and Neil Taylor sagas that they dont fold to player demands when they don't need to sell. They hold all the aces and the bidding clubs will know that.

If someone came in with a 15m bid-they would bite their feckin hand off.Just an opening gambit by Laudrap.Besides that if Chelseea or Spurs showed an intrest you can't tell me that the lads head wouldn't be turned and once that happens then its only a matter of time.

They would never sell him for that. Why would they? It's only a quarter of the amount they get if they avoid relegation.

Every player they sell will be on their terms, they didnt want to get rid of joe allen and rejected liverpools £12m bid, only because they hot the release clause were they forced to accept.

If you think they will get rid of the premier leagues top scorer for the same as they got for joe allen then your bonkers.

Re: £30m for Michu

Mon Dec 10, 2012 11:00 am

We dont need to sell players,we have plenty of cash good credit and so on.
We wont sell him for less then 15mill.
And if you think about it he is on a 2year contract so if we sell allen for 15 mill who never scoref goals then how much is michu??
We dont get bullied by big clubs and get whats best by the club.

It must hurt that we keep on moving forward even after all your negative remarks

Michu is top scorer at the half way point in the Prem almost. Remember Demba Ba and Cisse? Oh right. Tell me 1 team willing to splash £20m on them.

One good run means almost nothing. You need to prove that you are consistent to be demanding such high fees. The only way Swansea will get £15m+ for Michu in Jan or the summer is if a stupid illogical club like Liverpool sign him for an inflated fee.

He was also the top scoring midfielder in La Liga last season, at a struggling club, he is around the peak age for footballers and doesn't have too much left to prove. (In fact I find it odd that we had a free run to sign him?) I'd be stunned if he left us for less than Joe Allen to be honest.

Joe Allen was £15m because hes British hence the premium.

Thing is you lot on this forum only see the highlights of him!
What he does of the ball and is work rate and passion is second to none.
15 mill is a snip and i would be gutted to get less then 20.
True what you say that its only half way point in is first season!but he was doing it in spain allso.
And remember he is a midfiel player who scores lots of goals.
