End of the day it's rugby. It's not just about attendances it's more to do with culure and what we are good at. I am not a fan of rugby at all but I am not as bitter as many of you on here about it being the national sport. Also, a quick note to all those arguing that football is the national sport do you go to international games?

Finally look at the attendances for the welsh premier league! They are below 300 in most cases and i'm pretty sure most of you wouldn't watch the City if we were in that league.

but out of all them people who watch wales when wales are not playing how many will go out and watch their local club or region not many

thats not really the point tho isit? i reckon wales could most prob sell out another 30 thousand seats at the millenium if we had that many when we play the likes of ireland, england or new zealand

what is the point they could not sell out today, football could most probably sell out if they were playing nations in the top six world ranking

I Bleed Blue wrote:More of a day out for Rugby fans, they're not treated like animals, they're allowed to have a drink in their hand watching the game, they allow persistent standing, they aren't bullied by stewards. The WRU are a better organised organisation than the FAW. In P.E lessons, children are made to play more rugby, football is always overlooked and seen as a better option, I was a student at Whitchurch High School, Sam Warburton was always mentioned in lessons as someone to look up to as inspiration, yet the school also produced one of the best left sided midfielders in the Premiership at this moment in time yet he's rarely mentioned. It's an absolute joke.

Agree with you there apart from the WRU they are possibly the worst run governing body I have seen

That stadium should have been full today, Saturday afternoon 2:30, brilliant day out for families, but the prices were a laughing stock

Also being from Pontypool, Im not happy about then about the way they treated Pontypool, they've got there precious regions (which have failed) but couldn't give two sh*ts about anyone else

They should be helping sides like Pontypool not running them out of business, Wru are a laughing stock and as for that Roger Lewis, only Alan tate is a bigger tw*t than him

I hate rugby, can't really sit and watch the game, but that's not the reason. It's just the people in rugby and supporters. They seem to claim that EVERY football player is a big headed, arrogant, diving ponse who will look for everything they can get. But that's not the case, look how welcoming most of them are for phots, autographs, some of them will even stop and have a chat.
And as for attendances, regions have failed miserably, 5000 average across Wales, nobody watches, yet 65-75,000 turn out for internationals? But the thing is not many poeple who go to the six nations or autumn internationals actually follow rugby. Most of them are just orange women in their 30's/40's showing off their flabby legs and getting pissed

So you criticise rugby fans for stereotyping football playersand then stereotype rubgy fans in the next paragraph?

The way I see it the reason there is such a big turn out at the international level is because it becomes a big event and give us the chance to enjoy being somewhat good at something for once. And there is alot of passion behind. Its not just about filling the Millenium Stadium every Rugby club and pub will be full of people watching the game. You wouldnt get that for the football mainly cause we are shite and price of the tickets

The Welsh national sport is boxing.

Go to any pub in Cardiff on a Friday or Saturday and you'll see locals taking part all the time. :old:
