Im happy with Malky, think we have been unlucky with injuries as well, as we look an average side without bellamy, mutch, maynard and smith. We definately need a new defence and was surprised we didnt spend on defenders as our defence has cost us promotion the last few years.

It's November FFS .
On this date last year Reading were in 14th position 15 points behind the then leaders Southampton.
They won the league.
Shore up the defence, sort out the away tactics , a bit more luck with injuries , and we will be in the mix come may.

We had a similar problem in the 92-93 championship side - appalling away from home until Xmas then it clicked with the side then went on a run of no defeat until York on Easter Saturday by then we had stormed to top of the league but back in November after the dismal defeat to Bath in the cup the Bob Bank was calling for the head of Eddie May!
Paitence is the key no-one has won anything in November before, We need Mutch back fit, Drop Taylor or Turner bring back in Super Kev - The defence needs tightening up once we do that away from home we'll win the league as we will always score goals

For all the "Malky In" crew. Do u honestly think we're gonna get promoted with this horrendous away form?
Wed Nov 07, 2012 12:22 pm
I'm not saying Malky out right now, but its imperative that he sorts this form out.
He's had a sack of cash to sign players that he has watched/tracked for years, and he didn't bother to add to the back 4.

Just a bad spell away from home, that is all. We will get better away and we will go up.

I don't think we will go up this season.

In my opinion he has failed to assemble a balanced squad . Unless this was beyond his control then he is not up to the required standard

Hmmmmmmmm. Not quite a level playing field though.
DJ had to fire fight for most of those 6 years - sell best players, transfer embargos, took over a side heading for relegation, and improved us year on year.
Malky took over a side constantly in the mix for promotion and has been given an absolute fortune to get promotion.

Our defence is a shambles and imo that will soon be sorted in January.
3rd in the league, unbeaten at home and people want him out lol embarrassing
Whos fault is that? Santa Claus? or Malkys. Id say Malky.
We shouldnt have had to wait until January given the squillions he had to spend it should have been addressed in the summer.
But hey, lets waste nearly 4 million on 2 players hes reluctant to use.
Great way to spend a budget Malcolm.

Smackerz, dont expect an answer to this, ive put it to Annis about 10 times now and he just ignores it because if he acknowledges it then it makes him look like a hypocrite.

No I wouldn't
In Malky we trust
Wed Nov 07, 2012 1:53 pm
i wouldn't. But bigger clubs have sacked managers who were performing better than Malky
Wed Nov 07, 2012 1:59 pm
We Are 3rd in the league for christ sake..............what would some of our new fans done in the years we got relegated
Wed Nov 07, 2012 2:17 pm
We would have bitten the hand off of someone offering us to be in 3rd place so close to the top at this stage of the season. As long as we keep strong at home we have a good chance.
We have to remember this is a very very strong league, and a away point is often a cracking result. We arent far off grinding out away results.
Lets trust Malky and remember he doesnt tell us how to do our jobs, so lets not insult him on telling him how to do his!

Not so easy to do that after witnessing last night's "entertainment."

NOW we are gettinf ffs we are THIRD in the league IT used to be we are FIRST in the league .WHAT happened to that? You people say it as if ecverything is all ok and we have no problems With the money he has spent and the cooperation the manager has had i would EXPECT us to be up there
Wed Nov 07, 2012 2:48 pm
We'd be seen as crazy to sack him now.
3rd in the league in November, everything to play for. 3rd from bottom I could see people's point but not 3rd from the top.

Denzil wrote:We Are 3rd in the league for christ sake..............what would some of our new fans done in the years we got relegated

For me that is the issue - with those already here & the cash he had with time to spend it - we should be clear at the top !
Wed Nov 07, 2012 3:46 pm
i believe he has to deliver promotion this season or that will be his fate... we have to give him this season..
we are not as strong in depth as we first anticipated back in august and we need to make additional signings in january...
especially as mutch and bellamy seem likely that they will only play abit part in this season..
if we are going to continue with the 4-5-1 away from home then we need a ball winner infront of the back 4 who can break up the play and stop the opposition.
cowie isnt a bad player, but without the ball he and on the back foot he is not good enough. whitts is useless when hes back standing on hudsons toes!

castleblue wrote:Annis this is not about sacking MM for me this is about him doing his job and for me right now he is being found wanting.
This summer he has been given more money to buy players than any other manager in our history and we turn in a defensive performance like that last night. It wouldn't be so bad if it had happened only once but add that to the team imploding at Bristol, Palace and Forest and as the saying goes "Houston we have a problem".
For me the honeymoon period with MM is well a truely over and right now I'm looking to the man to sort these issues out. Under his management we have the 23rd ranked away defensive unit in the Championship and NO club has ever been promoted carrying that label.
In the coming weeks we are due to play Barnsley, Peterborough and Sheffield Wednesday all teams scrapping for their lives and right now do you honestly believe we have the stomach to face these teams
Last night MM was saying it is "Unnacceptable" to be giving goals away like we are, in the next breath it's David Marshall would normally catch that cross and he will never let that 40 yard "lob" in again. That is MM talk for Marshall is the 2nd name on the team sheet behind Don Cowie who last night managed to give the ball away for 2 of their goals and generally ran around like a headless chicken in ever decreasing circles.
Succesful football teams attack and defend as a unit but we are failing and certain players are under NO pressure for their place in the team, or the matchday squad, and I blame MM for that.
I don't expect to see Marshall or Cowie in the team on Saturday. Do you.

Is Lewis any better than Marshall? He made a couple of mistakes in pre season and doesn't fill me with confidence. Cowie though is another matter as we have several good quality midfielders who could take his place. When we play 442 Whitts is always going to be the first player to take one of the two central midfield slots. Whitts has an incredible attacking threat from his passing and shooting but is not so good defensively and he isn't quick or strong, neither is he so good at tackling and breaking up play.....so when we go with Whitts in a 442 I think we need someone like Gunnar or Kiss alongside him to do the dirty work. Even better would be Whitts, Kiss and Gunnar, but that means going with one striker and HH is not the man for that. He's ok when he has a strike partner but hasn't got the legs to do that role on his own. So if MM wants to go with 5 in midfield he needs to find another target man

Are you going to put it on record, right here, right now that hes the man to deliver us to promotion and
that you have every faith in him?
I just find it so ironic you having a go at those questioning Malky when its no different to what you did with Jones.
"Top of the league", then "Joint top of the league", now "Were only 1 point off autos", next it will be "We are in the play offs we would have taken that". blah, blah, blah.
As you kept bleating on last season about budgets this year Malky has been given the highest budget in the clubs history (somethingelse you used to beat Jones with) and should be seeing sides like Palace and Charlton off when we take two goal leads. If the last 3 away games / results had happened under Jones you would be calling for his head on a plate.
I remember we lost a cracking game away to then league leaders QPR 2 years ago and you wanted a pop at Jones. Weve just blown a 2 goal lead and conceded 5 to a team down the bottom and you defend Malky and have a go at thosr you are rightly fucked off??? Hmmmmmm.
Double standards me thinks but hey Jonesy didnt dress up as santee claus at the xmas party or pat his head like a deranged chimp.
DJ had 6 years
Malky 16 months
For most of that 6 years jones sold his best players. And brought in cheap buys and free transfers yet we still challenged and the season he had big money he was criRtisceKd all season by Annis for budget sizing bottling etc we missed out he had to go, Mackay has had the same luxury budgets for four transfer windows now, its time for him to be questioned and to stand up and be counted and unfortunately he won't live up to whats expected come end of may and just as jones's time was up that season end so will malky's if he gets that long he needs 12/12 points next four games to get back on track and unortunately I don't think he'll get 6/12 points
I stand corrected 9/9 since this post excellent turnaround in fairness and nice to see an away win for a change lets hope this sees a new lease of life on the road,

We've just won the feckin' Championship with games top spare and STILL you people feckin' moan!
Absolutely unbelievable and absolutely ungrateful! The Champagne is not even dry on the floor yet!
According to 'statistics' there were TWENTY THREE (23) Championship managers who performed worse than Malky this season and at least 22 sets of fans (Hull got there in the end) who would have swapped with us in an instant!
Personally, I WANT Malky to stay and I firmly belive that the vast majority of attending supporters want that too (unless, of course, Fergie has a rethink and fancies one last challenge

) and that it is the 'usual suspects' who, although very small in number, are just out to de-stabilise and slate the club at every opportunity. For some twisted reason they appear to see it as more of a 'sport' than the footie itself
Malky did a bloody good job last season and sometimes people need to be careful what they wish for
