That's what you want to believe. Kids either support clubs in the top 4 or their local team for family reasons, Swansea aren't considered as "big boys". As kids grow up, they eventually support their local team. Kids from Cardiff will never support Swansea, especially as we're on the up.

not so much cardiff kids more valleys , bridgend , porthcawl etc , don't underestimate the draw of the premier league , you can imagine now kids in school and their mates are jacks sneaking off to the home of welsh football scared of their dads reaction until they can't keep it a secret any longer , then the word every cardiff supporting father dreads

If Swansea's the home of Welsh football then why aren't Wales games played there? ;)
I agree with you though that kids from the valleys etc will probably support Swansea at this moment in time, but if Cardiff are promoted this season or any time soon then that won't happen, the majority of football fans in South Wales have always followed Cardiff and that wouldn't change if Cardiff were in the Premier League. Sane parents who are Cardiff City fans wouldn't let their kids support Swansea anyway and they'd make sure they were Bluebirds. :ayatollah:

I cannot understand how parents allow their kids to support other teams. My dad was a ccfc fan because his dad was and he took me to NP in early 80s. When my 4 were born they were told at birth that they were ccfc. From that day on they have been totally indoctrinated with shirts, tickets etc despite being exiles and surrounded by mancs, scousers etc at school.

My eldest has a group of friends who follow the local teams in the area or their fathers teams (his close mates are Saints, Pompey and Brighton) and my middle son is best mates with a sheff utd fan and a QPR fan.

100% true. Lets be absolutely honest here, Swansea, like many other remote areas of the UK are out of touch and so the natives are by and large a bit 'backwards'. Its always been the same. Even if City were in the lower leagues, no local youngster would dream of supporting Swansea as it would be seen as a backwards step, even to a kid. However, it will be interesting to see how many more fans from Way Out West we attract when we go up.

and be the subject of lampoonery til death he did part.

I got told Joe Allen's dad used to be a City fan years ago but then when they moved his son got the opportunity to play down there and then followed the Jacks. Don't know how true this is though, just pub talk.
