id never start him but like the original poster correcly points out he has helped us immensely when brought on the pitch
Every time gestede has come on he has done exactly what was required of him and I personally applaud him
he mistimed a header when we were 4-0 up big deal

Why not Cowie? :? He's played really well last 2 games and you still slate him

IMO he's far more of a threat than Helguson, in general his aerial ability was immense and that showed with his fantastic assist today. He's pacy and not too bad on the ball. His technical long-shot vs Leicester in extra time got us to Wembley let's not forget. He just needs game time, getting better and better and will learn from his mistakes.

His sheer threat works like a brilliant decoy e.e again Connelly's goal, deserves more credit. Worked hard and is very useful in defence for instance when he tackled the Watford dude in the last minute and obviously due to his height on the near post.

Well done Rudy, hope you gain some confidence, far more athletic and aerial threat than Helguson I think. If Gestede had misplaced some of Helguson's passes today hell would unleash on here.

He wasnt brilliant but did the job he was brought on to do. Battled and set a goal up :ayatollah:

I totally agree with this

Rudy is an option because of his height, no more than that.

He has a touch like 'Thing' off the Fantastic Four, which is why I dont see him
progressing. Touch is something you either have or you don't. Earnie's first touch
was always hit and miss and it stopped him being a success in the Premiership.

He did ok when he came on at Ipswich, but did not have a hand in either goal.

Your argument goes potty when you say he's better than Helgusson

I think you ARE Rudy, and are using Google translate

Though i agree with your point about Earnie i think it's unfair to say the same about rudy. The lad has never had a period where he's had a run of games without getting injured. When you're not match fit your balnce and first touch are the things that suffer most, especially for a big lad like rudy.
Until the last few games Helguson's touch looked awful at times and every time he received the ball he looked off balance, but the last few games he has improved no end. :ayatollah:

I thought Rudy did really well when he come on today and for that he deserves credit and in my opinion a lot more than some of our fans are prepared to give.

As you have quite rightly pointed out in the few games he has featured in he has made a difference, either through the sheer physical presence or by assists like the one yesterday. Rudy now has 2 assists from only 94 minutes on the pitch this season which is 1 more than Helguson from 1048 minutes on the pitch.

We all know Rudy lacks co-ordination and if he ever finds it he will be one hell of a player, and for me given that Helguson is 35 years of age we will need Rudy a lot this season, but mostly off the bench.

I cannot believe that had Maynard not picked up his injury that Helguson would have had anywhere near the game time that he has, and with Rudy now approaching match fitness it would'nt surprise me if we see more rather than less of him.

One thing I've noticed about Rudy compared to last season is that he has bulked up, in particular upper body and whith Hudson, Turner, Connolly and Rudy on the pitch with Whitts delivering crosses from set pieces we have a hell of a lot of aerial power to deal with.

As you point out the last 2 goals were after Rudy came on and that's the big positive he brings, assisting or creating space for others.

He hasn't done anything wrong. When he's come on he's looked a handful. Top of the league. Top team performance yesterday I'll take that.

He reminds me a bit of Leo fortune West, poor touch but a bit of a handful and forces defenders to panic when he is in the area, a good sub option I think.....

Felleni is probably worth £15 million and sometimes he looks ungainly, its that type of player.

No - other than physical attributes I am not comparing Rudy and Felleni

By f**k iv'e read some drivel in my time but this takes the biscuit.

At one point yesterday afternoon he went up for a header missed it completely and planted his head into the turf. You got to laugh. If Rudy is reading this then all I have to say is you better hope we get relegated this seasons as that's the only way you will find your level.

Cowie was bollock vs Watford. He runs around all game. He proved me wrong yesterday though.

Helguson ent going to play a full 90 every game and Gestede does offer height.

He held the ball up and knocked a few off for the midfielders and gave a great assist.

No defender wanted to challenge him and he done well when he came on.

People are slating the chances he had yesterday? Helguson wouldn't even been in them positions and no other player would have been in the box.

No point in comparing him to Helguson as Helguson has better experience and hard to contain up front.

Gestede off the bench is a good sub along with Gunnarsson.
