Chopra was always hot and cold. Sometimes he'd score for fun, then he'd not score for a while, then he'd pop up with a late winner and send the crowd into pandemonium. Playing him was a gamble. Ironically, his favourite hobby. He's also not as good as people make out.

They do if they affect his performance in training and in matches.

By the same token, if a lad working in McDonalds turns up stinking of ale every
day and his duties suffer, and his colleagues are carrying him...

What he is doing outside working hours then becomes the business of his employers

Spot on. One of my mates got seriously injured playing Sunday league football and was laid off from work because of it. I don't know how legal it is to do that though but he never appealed or got any help over it so Im guessing they were well within their rights to do so.
