Polo,

Have a look at this and give it a go on the days you don't go out for a run. These guys get right up my nose, but I've done this workout myself and it's brutal if you put 100% into it! Chuck a few sets of press ups in and some alternate lunges if you're in a sadistic mood!

Best advice is to just think cocky mate. Hit the weights, buy a weights bench and lift - low weight, high rep - to lose fat.

The best thing you can do is just STFU and Lift mate. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

This is right. You have a small carbs meal before for quick fuel energy and then high protein based meal afterwards or shake for repairing.

That's bollocks. The best way to burn fat is by doing cardio on an empty stomach in the morning. Tried and tested

This is spot on, it's good to do CARDIO first thing in the morning on an empty stomach to help you burn fat easier. :ayatollah:

chris is right, if you do feel the need for something to eat before going, just have a banana.. great source of quick energy, but if you eat breakfast before going for a run it will just be sitting there ...

also polo, whats the area like where you are running? where i go for a run, its pretty impossible not to either go down hill, or uphill making it more difficult on the legs etc..

I can make it either. I have a large common just down from my house which leads to a fairly large park which is on two levels. I made the mistake yesterday of going on the flat, then running around the park, thinking "this is ok" then went up the hill and around the upper level of the park and thats what wiped me out.

With all good intentions I didnt get up in time this morning  so I will go tonight after work, same route but not taking on the hills again until I am more fitter / lost some weight.

Not the best of ideas starting early morning running in the cold dark mornings. :D

Do weights 3 times per week and split it up into sections as well. After weightlifting, a good workout, you will feel the burn and repair kick in. Just make sure you manage it properly because in the first couple of weeks DOMS hits you hard.

Because legs are the worst to recover from in my opinion, do legs end of the week, give yourself the weekend off.

Monday - Chest and Biceps
Tuesday - Run
Wednesday - Triceps and Back
Thursday - Run
Friday - Core and Legs

That way you will have Sat, Sun and Mon to recover from legs workout and you should be fine by then and almost fully recovered from DOMS. If you still have a little pain just run through it because it won't do any damage as its only tiny muscle fibre tears, not a strain or anything serious like that. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:
