How can "abuse" not be offensive!! And definitely far from tedious. Abuse doesnt differ in terms of how its made, sexual assault, violation, rape, etc etc.
As someone with a disability, if you called me a spacker or cripple I wouldn't care as offence is subjective whereas someone else might care. I would be more annoyed if you repeatedly called me it. Not because of the offence but because hearing a word repeated is annoying.
Someone verbally abusing a person with a dissability is ignorant. People who troll at the expense of a family who has lost their daughter is a completley different thing. Do you have kids?
No and even if I did I would still ignore an ignorant person who had no influence or knowledge of my life. Ignore them rather than give them the attention they crave.

Internet trolls, who prey on people whose lives have been shattered by tragedy are fair game for legal recourse in my mind.
Prison time maybe a stretch, though
Freedom of speech is a right in itself.
That cannot be allowed to be abused. Rights are given to protect not to be abused.
Rights are not "given" either. That would be a massive contradiction, a right is what we as people are entitled to.
They are given, like it or not. You can be denied any right at any time. Reality and Idealism are different things.

Easier said than done. Especially for a mom or dad hanging on to hope that their child is alive.

Something being easily taken away does not mean it hasn't been given in the first place. That makes no sense.

Yep, Taffy lot of little kids on here today, who if they remember this thread will regret every word they typed. Time and perspective tend to temper the hot headed "rightness" of youth.

Really? So do you think racist comments and insults on the internet are ok then? Freedom of Speech?
Yes or No?
Remembering of course you spit feathers on here at the very thought of someone posting
anything you deem to be racist

Maybe maybe not, but it is not just the parents involved, classmates, relatives, neighbors. They are all in this nightmare. When I was a child a young boy here was abducted and killed like in 1978(?). It really rattled a lot of folks. Like I said before I don't think jail time is probably right, but a fine is appropriate IMO.

This isn't a mob at the door threatening physical action though is it? This isn't a guy on the net saying he is going to murder people is it? This is a guy who twisted the words in an offensive joke in order to try and gain attention but obviously he gained it from the wrong crowd who took offence. I do not take offence to anything typed on the net at all because I don't care. Even if some guy said he was going to kill me I would laugh it off. Saying is one thing, doing is another.
The police should have told this attention craver to shut his mouth or next time he won't get off so lightly. That probably would have been enough.

I agree here mate, a hefty fine and a police caution would suffice in my opinion.
