Its no problem I dont mind people being pissed at VT and the rebranding but to have a go at younger fans for not being able to be apart of the old times is a tad harsh

You should of pointed out to your mate, that "marketing professionals" could only be considered professionals if they conducted a little marketing practice known as MARKET RESEARCH.
It's quite clear that no one involved with the rebrand did this, as they were so suprised when they received "vociferous opposition" to the changes they planned on.
