I hated how unprofessional the place was. Some of the staff were pricks. Others where great though to be fair.

I was made redundant last December and I'm back in work from the 14th October, with a bit of luck. Like you say, the Job Centre people are hit and miss. I came across some dreadful ones, but others were really pleasant and helpful. I think the set-up is all wrong, though, because they don't really help you back to work. I think the money could be better spent in other ways.

Good luck to the OP in getting a job. Plenty out there, it's just a shame that the wages are so poor with so many of them.

Here here pal here f*cking here.

The problem with today's job centers are that ironically there aren't enough staff there, it's all on the computers which you do yourself. Back in the day you'd go to the job center in the knowledge that you will be given a helping end back into work by someone who has helped thousands more people like you. You would sit down and list your strengths and limits and come up with a few vacancies. It's a shame that it's all been ploughed into these fancy computers with less staff available to guide and also push a few reluctant people to apply for jobs they wouldn't otherwise have the confidence to do so.

As Nukes said, the benefit system is for people like you who have lost their job through no fault of their own and genuinely want to get back into work. There is no shame in it as you have demonstrated to us on here and yourself that you are nothing like those scumbags who have taken the system for a ride. Enjoy the break from work, make the most of it and start applying for jobs, there is no rush as something will always come your way regardless.

It annoys me some don't know what they are doing.
It took me three different handlers for them to tell me I could claim £50 a week on working tax credit as long as I was working over 30 hrs a week. That changes the job search completely
And meant the year before I was struggling for no reason working 30hrs a week when I could have had an extra £200 a month working credit
