Great player when he wants it, but one lazy footballer, could be playing in the top flight if he wanted to but has the wrong attitude. But saying that I liked Jay when he pushed himself, although I think he has the wrong type of manager, needs a Neil Warnock type to get the best of out him. Good luck to you & Jay for the rest of the season.

As for DJ, i see where you come from with interviews and local journalists. He was so awkward to interview pre season, would never comment on a player and sometimes seemed reluctant to tell the fans stuff they want to know, he keeps his cards close to his chest. Also on Saturday, we for the first time saw the moaning side of him if you like, he told the officials that they need to take a course in refereeing again and really laid into them. If it wasn't a man all Wednesdayites worship we'd be quite appaled by his behaviour IMO. About the connection with the fans, so far i'd disagree with you there, he is always praising the fans and the fans are very much on his side, i suppose that may change when things go against us. Sometimes not to have a close relationship with the fans is good, Megson had a real rapport with the fans and that didn't work out in the end.

Cardiff are one of my favourites for promotion, quality all over the pitch and spent money on what look like top players. One question, how have you managed to keep hold of Whittingham all these years? Could play in the premier league easily right? Been very loyal to Cardiff, have to respect him for that.

the problem is If Jay has a good loan spell, in January the top championship clubs will be after him

Jay is class. At his best for us (pre-England call up), he was one of the best footballers I have seen down City. After the call up, he believed his own hype, lost the plot and wanted to play for Barcelona.
In the end we were all fed up of his play acting, moaning and whinging.
If DJ can get his head straight AGAIN he will be outstanding for you. While we're on the subject I also think DJ was the best manager I have seen down here.......some people have short memories. In the end he had to go because we were getting stale.
Good to see you back in a decent league. :ayatollah:

On a side note, Dave Jones's first defeat on Saturday, but he's brought in what seem to be really good players on quite a restricted budget compared to the likes of Cardiff who have spent alot and we've started well. Got a good feeling about him, do you think he can keep the good form going?

Good luck this season.

JB9 was probably the most skillful player i have ever seen in a ccfc shirt.

Some of his skill/close control was a joy to watch and his goals were rarely 6 yard tap ins.

JB9 was also most infuriating player. If he got kicked in 1st 10 minutes he'd sulk like a girl and fall about and spend the remaining 80 minutes on his arse and pick up needless bookings.

After he got his England call up his head disappeared up his own arse.

DJ was the one manager in Jay's career who could get the best out of him. Many have tried and failed. Onhis day Jay is one of best forwards in whole country. When he can't be arsed he is one of the worst.

I've watched him play for Cardiff for 3 seasons home and away to know he can be frustrating at times but hes also a quality player,he will bring the best out of Gary Madine! :) :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Very few clubs would touch Jay with a bargepole due to his reputation. Jones is the only one to have had more than 1 season out of him

He was our best player for 3 seasons Sam. Yes he could be frustrating on times but he has that magic that few players in this division have. If he was on his game every game, he wouldnt be in the Championship.

JB - Class act if he wants to be, if he doesn't - shite. I would imagine that he must know that he's now in the last chance saloon in terms of earning a bigger contract so I think he'll be at his best for you, and I hope so as sheff weds deserve that with the fan base you've got plus mallo's/mandys in law/fella is weds.

DJ - very good eye for talent and can develop a squad well and will certainly do a good job for you. Doubt has to be cast over his ability to get over the finish line though as I still believe that before he left us we had a squad that should have achieved automatic promotion. I think he tends to over indulge his favourites and also favours experience over youth where a alance has to be struck. This was his downfall with us.

One of the most talented Strikers in the Championship on his day, but he doesn't have enough of those days. Falls over everytime anyone goes near him, and the refs get frustrated with him and ignore him, so you will see him go down for a dead cert penalty, and you will see the ref tell him to get up. One of the most talented but also under performing players I have ever seen. if he had stayed on in the Playoff final we would have been promoted I am convinced of that...

To be fair, in regards to Dave Jones, I do think keeping his cards close to his chest was up to him. You'll never keep every fan or reporter happy, thats just the way it works unfortunately. Look at all the run ins Dalglish and Ferguson had last year with reporters and so forth. Well, Ferguson has them almost every year.

If a manager says too much, a section of the fan base will not be happy once newspapers start twisting his words to make stories and it reflects badly on the club. If they don't say enough, its like they're being secretive and the fans are being kept in the dark about something.

I can totally understand why some managers have their way and stick to it. Never held that against Jones at all myself.

In regards to the moaning thing, he does like to do that but we have all done it ourselves during games. Only yesterday afternoon was Mr D'Urso getting it from all angles and look at Di Canio's rant. People let off steam and managers are only human.

He's a pretty decent manager to be honest and I do feel he was let down by a few players during his time here, Jay included. I believe Jay became a right diva after the England call up and did not perform to his highest level. Before that he was a goal machine and one of his best performances was against our next opponents Leeds.

If Dave Jones can get Jay playing consistently you have got yourself someone who can score a lot of goals and assist others. If not then Jay will probably be a hot/cold player as he was for us.

I just couldn't turn down the chance of playing under DJ again and I've proven I can score goals at this level. I'll do well for you if I can get my confidence back, but that will come with playing more and more games. Maybe another England cap for me as well soon!
