agreed. had a brilliant game, was only caught once but marshall saved at the near post.

Brilliant game - made me chuckle when he headed the ball back to Marshall near the end and nearly got caught out.

The whole team should be applauded for such an exciting performance

Fantastic to see a winger play like Craig Noone did today, what a debut !

I felt his performance eclipsed Whittinghams hat trick.

Tommy Smith is an intelligent player and looks a shrewd buy.

I loved that game today and respect to Malky for changing the tactics and not being stubborn.

proper, out and out wingers are so exciting to watch.

A lot of the time they can be wasteful, but thats just the nature of what they do. good to finally have another one at he club.

Re: " CLASS "

Sun Sep 02, 2012 5:05 pm

well done boys and particularly for malky changing things

he must have read the posts on here --play 442 push whitts up buy a decent winger and a striker with pace--

Hopefully the end of 451 at home

Re: " CLASS "

What a performance!!! It was just pure Class.. Noone could not of had a better debut. Would like to have seen Maynard score but If we can keep playing like we did today and keep improving match after match! well then this will be one very exciting season.. And then as someone said earlier.. Super Kev was on top form, except for the little mistake at the end. lol..

Re: " CLASS "

Sun Sep 02, 2012 5:15 pm

I said yesterday we would go 4-4-2 as we have real direct pacey wingers, cant play 4-4-2 without them!!

Spot on Carl, felt sorry for Craig when Whittingham got his third in case it overshadowed his display but thankfully not!

Agreed Annis.

Also in terms of the crowd, a few more games like that and as Len Ashurst used to say ''they'll be hanging from the rafters''.

Great to see the Ninian stand all on their feet screaming Noone on as he skinned George Foreman time and time again.

Re: " CLASS "

Had a decent stream here in Uganda (is it because I'm closer to Malaysia?).

Anyway, this week highlighted the difference between MM and DJ. Both stubborn in their own way but MM quickly changed and adapted when something was not working. DJ would have stuck to his own failing principles, ESPECIALLY if the fans had any dissenting voices.

Interestingly that we have signed Noone and Maynard... In januay we tried to sign Noone and Sordell. So I think Malky always knew we had a problem with pace and movement in the side and now he's got what he wanted and the balance looks just about right.

Some other points..

Whitts... had more of a free role as Mutch did a lot of the fetching and carrying, what a difference that made.

Defense.. looked a bit shaky in the first 30 minutes but seemed to grow and gel more as the game went on. Kev was exceptional - perhaps feeling more confident with more movement in front of him?

Noone.. great debut... he'll have a fair few assists this season and win quite a few pens with his direct and tricky wing play.

Smith.. what a great acquisition. He's no slouch is he? and his intelligence and decision making was evident.

Maynard, exceptional running on and off the ball. When the rest of the team start to pick him out and work more together he will be a potent threat. Helguson had a fairly quiet game but his hold up play was good and he'll shine with a more mobile front man, smith and noone pushing forward.

Happy day.

First game to see us in red and I have answered some questions I no now that I hate it its cringe worthy to me .

The football was at times very very good Tommy Smith was good and he already looks like he has played with McNaughton for a long time .noone was excellent mutch played well enjoyed the game a lot.

If Malky can get the tactics right then we have a big chance this year Maynard looks the part aswell but needs games.

The badge and that Red shirt is just not us I hate it.

First time i've come from a game in along time since MM has been here and thought we was really good today the formation & the wide play was top notch, cracking win lets hope MM keeps it the same. I thought we could have got 1-2 more goals if im honest if MM kept it the same but took people off and changed it around for safety sitting on the 3-1 score i guess eitherway good win today :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

First halfs against Peterboro and Reading were good last year. What I liked about today was unlike those 2 games we dominated the 2nd half as well.

Also the players must have been feeling a bit of pressure today, especially after going 1-0 down, so some big hearts on show today as well.

Wolves manager and a Wolves fan there as a guest of my mate admitted the better team won.

Re: " CLASS "

Great performnce today, Noone is a superb aquisition to the team, pure class, Smith and Maynard quality to. Whitts scored a great hatrick but credit to Mcnaughton today today thought he was superb.

Our bench looks shit hot to, and all that without Bellamy, Turner and Conway and not forgetting Mcphail and Earnie, best squad weve ever had in my opinion. Exciting times ahead. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Re: " CLASS "

Posted last week how Malky needed to change things and he's done what's been asked of him, fair play for dropping Cowie and not being stubborn, then bringing Cowie on when needed, exciting performance today.

Re: " CLASS "

Sun Sep 02, 2012 6:53 pm

how exciting was it to see noone, he exceeded my expectations today, running at them, turning that guy inside out. we looked good, moving the ball forward quickly. i also have to say that smith impressed me, got back to win the ball many times, proved invaluble cover for kev and brought the ball away quite nicely at times. also thought connolly did well in covering for turner.

what a delight it also was with 15-20 mins to go. 3-1 up and be able to make the changes and close the game out, shut up shop and 3 pts.

really pleased! :ayatollah:

Just got home, that was class today, 1 nil down and City came back and hammered in my opinion promotion contenders Wolves.
It could of been 5-1 to City today.
Whittingham was pushed forward, Smith and Noone were excellent and Maynard will be pure class over the coming weeks.
Whitts hatrick, superb. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

As to those who called for Malky's head after 3 games, he is not Dave Jones, Malky is willing to learn by his mistakes. Malky is not stubborn and is still learning his trade. He has brought together a a quality squad and when we go forward it is breath taking to watch. Defence still needs sorting, but Malky will get there, give him time.

As to the crowd just over 22,000, not good in my opinion, remember there were about 1,400 Wolves there. Weve finally got a class squad, so in my opinion if we are heading to the Premier League, it should be 25,000 plus every week.
The Premier seats were empty today, if we were in the Premier League, everyone would be sold out.

Bring on Leeds. :ayatollah:

Lets get 25,000 plus for the Leeds game and wear your Blue shirts with pride. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

We controlled the game and in my view that was up there with our performance against Liverpool at Wembley.

Thought Connolley was fantastic at the back and won nearly everything in the air against big strong "obese and you know you are" centre forwards.

Great game, I thought we were quality today!

Impressed by all the new signings. Maynard was busy and kept the their defenders on their toes. Great debut by Noone, exciting to watch and gives us the pace we lacked. Tommy Smith had another excellent game after a solid debut at Bristol and I thought Connelly was decent too.

Whitts really showed his class playing a more advanced role and Kev was inspired today. Well done Malky and the team, more of the same please boys! :ayatollah:

Only disappointment for me personally was the number of red shirts worn :(

Both full backs were bullied last season, we played so narrow that the oppositions wide midfield and full backs often over lapped and ganged up on our lads... this year the full backs will be so worried by the paceand directness that they will be screaming to there wide mids to get back and help.

Happy days....

Noone sending good signals out and I think a lot of fans speaking about him half time were booming with how the half went.

one big complaint!!!!! when other team have a corner why oh why cant we keep one up front? several times if we had someone there we could have had breakaway, also stops ball returning quikely back to our area! :old:
