I think he will sign and I will go to bed tonight believing that....Tomorrow will be a very good day if we sign him and we don't sell anyone that is important to us....we could do with Earnie moving even if we have to subsidise the move, a few fringe players should be allowed out on loan too maybe Harris. with an immediate call back installed if its Ralls saying that they will get games in the development squad under 21's

Roll on Tomorrow fingers crossed

TBH I can actually see his point if it was like that with Bristol(rivalry aside)And its not as if were whiter than white when it comes to slagging ex-city players.

Is he the sort of player that 'wants to play' or is the money as important?

He may stay put on twice the wages especially if he is settled in London. We always say that Earnies wages are stopping him from moving, perhaps the same can be said of Maynard.

Could be our best all time signing, I have no doubt this guy will score for fun especially if Malky fucks off this single striker bull shit.

Your fans hate him because he left and had bad words about the club, the small club attitude mentality runs well with Bristol City

He is reported to have said that he wanted to get out of Bristol because he didn't want his son to have a Bristolian accent.

Now tell me if any Cardiff player was reported as saying that, that they wouldn't be treated in the same way?

He disrespected the club, and disrupted the dressing room with his poor public attitude.

I'd understand if a cardiff player said the above :D

Are you f**king kidding me? He left cause of son didn't want to get the accent? Bulls**t.
Maynard was at a small club and Maynard always had the ability to do 10 times better and he took the chance to leave.
He was scoring goals, goals but it got them no where.

Great goalscoring record for Crewe and a good goalscoring record for at the wurzels even though they were pretty crap during his time there. Has the knack of being in the right place at the right time but also scoring some pretty amazing goals, remember the one against QPR? May have been goal of the season.

If we can get a deal sorted it would be fantastic.

Funny enough I think Maynard is a player who could play the single striker role because he is almost a complete striker, quick, strong and mobile. The thing about playing a single striker is that we need the midfield to join him which has not been happening so I think unless the system changes the single striker, whoever it is, is going to be pretty lonely.

From what I gather from a WHU friend of mine he is not happy about being 3rd or even 4th choice striker and wants to play.

That's good news then and a good sign to the type of player he is. So many nowadays are happy to sit in the reserves and take their big wages.

Fair play to him, can understand that. Up there with the worst around - and suits the bumpkins perfectly.

I'm not saying thats the reason, just that he was reported saying that.

Your comments about Bristol City being a small club are laughable. They're bigger than us.

We have easily the best Cardiff squad ever with him. But need defenders.

Malky is trying for a defender who can cover centre half and full back, but that could possibly go into the loan window :ayatollah:

He just sold one to palace?

As a Bristol City fan who lives in Cardiff and a big fan of Nicky Maynard I think I should pop in and say something.

First of all Nicky is a quality player, his technique is second to none and when he's on form he'll bang them in left right and centre but Nicky like every other player has a few bad points too.

When he loses his confidence or is unhappy you see it on the field, he can score a goal from nothing but he can also miss his fair share of chances if things aren't going his way. That aside if you can get him enthusiastic and injury free he'll be a hell of a signing for you and a bargain at £2.5m, I always valued him at £6m but after we let him go down in contract and refused to sell when we should have he went for what I expected.

I can assure you a lot of Bristol City fans hate him but in all honesty it's bitterness at losing him for a very low fee and now he's signing for you the chances are he'll be hated even more by many but don't let that put you off, no matter what he says he's a quality striker and with the right men behind him he'll bag you goals and get involved.

I know at some point I may pop along and come see you play if he's starting as I do miss watching Nicky play and I'm one of the few Bristol City fans who has nothing against Cardiff, a bit of banter is all I give and expect to receive :)
