West Ham get slagged off and all of a sudden 'Woody' turns up :?

would just like to add that the main mob of city fans had buggered off to town,just before w. ham showed up.often wondered if they put up a better show than us.Also the following year i think,i know i was still in school anyway, chelsea did much the same, a bit further up the road,by that crappy little park.This time some city fans did stay and fight,im afraid i was,nt one of them,and they took a beating.

I can only add what I've seen;

I went to West Ham away as a birthday present either 79 or 80 - there were bugger all Cardiff there ( we had to stand on the side terrace as the police warned us not to go around to the away end ) so I reckon about 150 at most - I can remember feeling really disappointed.

A night game probably around 81-82 not many West Ham there but about 6 came in the Grange walked straight over to the Bob without stopping and climbed in over the fence - most impressed with that - guaranteed a kicking but didn't even hestitate.

Yes they came with quite a big crew but not a lot happened in town before game. They brought about 30 onto corner of Bob Bank. They came down the corner by the floodlight with a very large black guy who decided to flatten a couple of cardiff guys. As the roar went up he was engulfed as B troop steamed in. They got smashed and soon got backed out. The black guy got the worst of it with one of the B brothers breaking his own leg! Don't get me wrong they were probably one of the best firms on their day. They were barbaric as we're all the London firms. As for the ninian pub I can't remember anything significant happening. Oh by the way it wasn't before the casuals either, woody as many of us were bouncing round in Lois cords, Velcro strapped trainers, woollen cycling jumpers, Pringles and leather wolf jackets. Ha ha we just come out of the skinhead era.

Stick to the fashion mate. Probably better off, as that game when the the bike was set on fire was Chelsea. But why let the truth get in the way of a story.

Crap thread BTW.

Don't know about chelsea burning bikes but it was a moped outside the old arcade that west ham set on fire, I was working in town that day and we went in the old A for a pint just as Boozer, Lez and the rest were leaving to find west ham. They came back 10 minutes later with the icf on their tails, 'lock the doors' they shouted as west ham attacked the pub and then set fire to Billy's moped :lol:

Blue twin it was west ham who set the motorbike / moped on fire.

Fair enough. If you say it was West Ham I'm not going to argue. But I distinctly Chelsea setting a bike on fire(Think it was near the Rummer Tavern) then later on some of their fans got a beating in the corner of the Bob Bank near the Grangend and many of them jumped over the wall at the back to get away. Still got the Echo cuttings in a scrapbook somewhere in the attic to verify it.

No problem blue twin , my point is verified , just didn't understand the comment about me better sticking to fashion as opposed to getting the facts right. As I was correct on both :old:
