The walk from Temple meads to Ground, might be worth avoiding bedminster it's like Canton for us lots of Pubs lots of Local Lads. get in the escort might be safer.

And after the game the same that said they aint what they were but they will have a go !

:ayatollah:

I def wouldn't get off at bedminster. The high st and pubs all around there are Bristol city pubs and lots of them.

I stupidly parked right by bedminster train st before just before the hill to windmill hill. Came back and someone had keyed it lovely and aimed a little kick at the driver side door panel. Being the idiot I am, I forgot I had a city jacket hung on the back my passenger seat. Completely my fault!

Spot on, as far as i am concerned they will always be our main rivals due to the amount of times our paths have crossed, i was also at that game at ashton gate in 1974, i will never forget the vile pieces of sh*t that chanted aberfan that night and they got all they deserved after the game, i really hope they get relegated this season.

i didn't do the post to be the big I am old head, I did it to stop people being complacent. There are plenty of fans who travel away with us who have never seen or been caught up in real trouble, It wasn't that long ago when i gave a similar warning before we played Spurs away in the cup, and how many families were caught up and terrified when their pub windows and doors came in and all sorts thrown around.

Like it or not, and let's hope it moves on from this situation, Cardiff still carry a reputation and are seen by many as a scalp and fair game, now some of our younger fans have almost romantic visions over hooligan times past, but lot's of us there know different and most of us have seen some bad sights.

I hope everything goes OK and I'm sure the Police will be all over it, just keep your wits about you and enjoy yourselves, and remember what can seem like a nice quiet back street pub with friendly away fans, can soon be full of a few dozen nutters summoned by a phone call. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

I have watched City away since 1977 so I know the pitfalls of heading over the bridge to Wurzel land, Last few times before the severnside derby became a bouble trip I travelled by train and as soon as we hit Bristol we were rounded up and put in an escort to the ground.

Good, sound advice Gwyn. This was always the big game. No need to panic, but just be careful. Don't let yourselves get isolated, and it should be OK.

Re: A TIP FOR OUT YOUNG FANS GOING TO BRISTOL

Fair advice i thinks. Bristol City latest breed are sneaky fookers and will pick off small groups. And yes that incident with the shirt er being done over at our place was cowardly and could provoke a response from them. At the moment other fans think we have gone soft "Family Club of the year" ETC. And with the re brand the fans are divided and they may be looking for a scalp. They may be right or it might unite the fans again !!
But i remember some right tasty times for this clash and trust me they have never been a push over at there place. So if you like Gwyn or not please take his advice :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

I remember it kicking off big time outside the ground after a midweek game there. It was pretty crazy. Top night but a few people got hurt. Gwyn is right in what he says. If you are a Green Street fan and think that it is all hobbits and windmills just stay in numbers and don't give it the big one.

They were even hiding in bushes trying to ambush us that night. Undercover panorama cameras filmed a bit of it. We were in the car so had to have our wits about us. Luckily we have a much better mob than Bristol although the dickhead who twatted their scarfer on Sloper Road will no doubt cause some poor kids a broken nose.

I hope there is no trouble and the plod get on top of it.

Hope all young Bluebirds behave although I seriously doubt the little bucktooth, pubeless, greasy wannabe hooligans will listen Gwyn.

Bristol here, sorry but I can't let this post go,what you say is 100% lies.
The last time we played Stoke was about 6 years ago and they bought a big mob, it went off big time after the game, lads on lads.
No family's or shirters were picked off at all. In 35 years of going to Ashton Gate I haven't witnessed any of that sort of thing from proper lads.
As for Saturday, yes there will be 100's of City out " looking for it" and we all know it's the same for your lads.
We always have had a great rivalry with you,it's died over the last few years imo because of the bubbles, but hopefully we can get back to a good hostile atmosphere this week ( that's what Derby are about after all)
Don't take this post as me being up for anything, I will be with my 13 year old lad just hoping its hostile but trouble free.
All the best to you all, enjoy your trip, but not too well :ayatollah:

Yeah agree with point 1 Placid. There was about 6 of us coming back on the train from Derby away I think it was several years back and about 20 'wurzel lads' got on. They were all over us trying their best to intimidate giving us loads of shit...got a bit hairy at times with literally some head to head pusing in the corridors but we weren't budging. It petered out and they fecked off at BTM.

Oh and I agree with point 2 & 3 as well :ayatollah:

Which part of "I haven't witnessed" don't you understand?
Yes, there are dickheads out there, pretty sure you have them as well.
I'm talking about lads that stick to the rules, everyone I know doesn't do that sort of thing.
If you want it you will get it,if you don't you won't, Ive witnessed loads of "walkovers".
Anyway, I'm sure you have your own agenda, just thought I would come on here and give my side.
Up to you if you don't want to believe me.

Your hardly in a position to call others snidy and sly are you. Placid casual dont tell me yours have never gone at scarfers or lesser numbers, plymouth scarfers on sloper road? Its even in one of your books. Glasshouses and stones springs to mind? . Train boys , you enjoy ur walk round bristol courtesy of old bill, they gave millwall 3escorts to ground in 2010, 1st one was in ground almost 2hrs before kick off, would not bank on not getting same treatment. :o
