Its nothing to do with the landing fees, ive had this debate many of times
Cardiff offer very competitive landing fees, although airports negotiate with airlines to try and give them the better deal
Why airlines dont just come into Cardiff is 1 - Wales has one of the highest unemployment figures, so why would they operate from a country where many people have no money? and 2 - There is an airport nearby which operates a high proportion of flights which would compete with Cardiff
They have attracted a lo-co airline Vueling from spain, so they cant be pricing out lo-co's that bad
Surely low income areas would welcome low cost airlines. Vueling again isn't that cheap compared to so-called other low cost airlines flying out of other airports.

I used to catch the first flight to Belfast at 07.00 and return and 18.00 - perfect for business. Both flights were almost always full but now the flight goes out at about 17.30 and returns at 20.00 meaning its useless and considerably more expensive for the majority of people with no alternative but to stay overnight.

Not necessarily as normally with low cost airlines there are more flights a week than that of package holiday airlines
Some low cost airlines offer daily flights to some destinations - and with people not having the money they once had, surely this would impact the amount of people wanting or affording to go on holiday?

vueliing!! problem with them is go to malaga, is via barcelona!! 10hrs ffs easier to go to bristol direct flight!! hence the problem, airport will close eventually as lack of use!! other reason is wag they cant run pissup in brewery did you know united airlines will operate service to usa but wag wont subsidice them to tune 1mil a year for 5yrs to get it up and running! but wag will spend 1.5ml a year to subsidise cdf/angelsey for 25 passengers each flight 2 flights a day!!
ps economically its said 200mil could be put into wales over 5yr period from usa! how much from angelsey?? sweet fa!!!

It is a shame though as it has the potential to be so much more and can fly to so many more destinations than Bristol if we had the routes.
This summer Vueling flights have been successful and looking to add more routes for next summer and the Orlando flights a big success and could do more flights (the one thing we have over Bristol).
Hardly get trains so don't know.

Cardiff Orlando in the summer.
Otherwise it will be an indirect flight but going by Amsterdam you can go anywhere.
Also via Dublin (with Air Lingus)
Via Amsterdam (with klm)
Via CDG, Paris (with flybe)
Sometimes via Glasgow (with flybe)
Also Vueling via Barcelona go to most places in Europe.
Obviously indirect flights are not deal but some options for people to look at if they wanted to fly from Cardiff.

It would have been cheaper to go to London even with the fuel, parking and hotel costs involved in doing that, but I fancied being at home Saturday night, so will see how it goes. Used to use the BMI Baby flight form Cardiff at £25.99 each way. As it may be a regular journey again in the future for me, I am thankful Ryan Air are introducing a flight from Bristol in October.
