Too many plastics its all changed...

Can somebody please explain where this pathetic adage comes from "being plastic" ? I hear all the time these days, if anybody want's to call me "plastic" for supporting Cardiff City for over 40 years and reluctantly accepting us using the red kit and horrible badge for at least one season in order for us to survive, then i must be "plastic"
