I'd rather Gestede didn't play anyway

Nicky Maynard would be a great signing, don't care that he's an ex Bristol City player, he's quality at this level and he'd score loads for us. We've got competition from Leeds mind.

If we sign Bellars and Maynard, we'll be real contenders for promotion. :ayatollah:

Don't get this 'proper center forward' thing though, did Swansea(scuse my swearing) play with a real striker to get promoted? No, I think if we do sign him it'll be brilliant, Velikonja behind him as well, it'll work well

I think he's comfortable at centre or right back. The antidote of Richard fecking Keogh :-D

No Miller, no Rudy, Velikonja only just arrived today......could be struggling for strikers against FGR especially if Malky makes lots of changes in the second half. :ayatollah:

f**k him, we always seem to get a few goals against derby, lets hope we can put 3 or 4 past them again this yr... that'll teach him!

I mean someone comfortable playing with their back to goal, able to receive the ball under pressure , control it and bring others in to the play.If he is good in the air, gets on the end of crosses and is able to score 20 goals in the season so much the better. You could call that a target man but to me that phrase suggests a big lump you just bang the ball up to in the air and hope for the best (Rudi?). I think we need better than that. Jay Bothroyd without the personality defects would be perfect!

This defender would definitely command a regular first team spot. As with the other snippets I've been entrusted with this summer, I'll name him when im asked. Until an approach is made i know you all understand it's delicate

Just got a feeling Super Kev will be the player to make way.....for this new potential defender to come in. Hate loan deals, especially when they play really well, we dont have a chance is signing them later on....and you would lose the player who had to sit on the stands because of it.

So are we in discussions with West Ham, Maynard or both?

Have they even said that he's available?

Would he want to join us?

Can we afford him?

Although he would be a great signing, I doubt that we'll see him playing for us.

hes def going to be surplus at west ham, atleast 3rd or 4th choice... i believe they only bought him to stop other champ teams from getting him...

IF I remember - Maynard had bonuses if WHU went up,or would get a pay raise to his contract.
Here is the link when WHU signed Maynard from Jan this year -
