Bothroyd is a championship player, we all said that before you took him on.
He wasn't getting regular games at your gaf, so you were never gonna see what he could produce on regular basis....
He has been by far the best striker down our place for years, Very quick for a tall lad, technically apt, good football head on him, yes he has his spells of lazyness and whinging, what players don't, but what do you expect from a striker? some one defending, midfielding running his arse off like a headless chicken for lost causes? Well we have one of those called Kenny Miller, and all people remember about him is his BIG miss that could have won us the cup v Liverpool, and his work rate and effort!
I know what I prefer and thats a 20+ goal a season striker, which is exactly what Bothroyd was.
Yes us city fans like a player who works his tits off, but we have 8 or 9 of them already in our team.... We were way to defensive based last season as the billions of draws will tell you! We need a balanced and varied team and Bothroyd describes everything we missed last season.
I rekon if we brought him in in January on loan it would have made hell of a difference.
I'm also not saying we should go all out to try and bring him back either - But what Bothroyd brings to the table is a striker that Malky should be searching for.....
