McNaughton thinks his place is safe. Needs to be challenged for his spot. :ayatollah:

just to add he was selected in the championship team of the year...

can be interpreted both ways... either kev was good last season, or just not as shit as all the other right backs..

No time for sentiment i am afraid

Absolutely right! If we are serious about automatic promotion we need a quality right back to replace Kev.
He's been a superb player for City over the years but his poor distribution cost us big time last season.

Who the hell said anything about sentiment? He can get form back, honestly Cardiff's fanbase at times, dim doesn't do it justice.

Nothing to do with form hus distribution has always been poor. Under Jones it didnt matter so much as he wasnt expected to go forward like he has to the way Malky sets his team up.

Too wasteful. Keep him as back up but we need an upgrade on the 1st choice right back imo.

Agree totally with this post. I like Kev but one of the reasons he never made the prem or played that often for Scotland was because he can't pass the ball and this new role sees him so far up the field it leaves Cowie/Conway back tracking and therefore not supplying the crosses either. When Burke and Matthews were playing together under DJ they seemed to have a far better understanding of the roles and ability to produce the final ball and to me it was no coincidence that both showed their best form for us during the period they played together.

I totally agree as well. Everyone loves Kev because of his guts, he's brave, he gives his all and effort wise he never lets us down. But unfortunately, despite him getting into promising positions overlapping with his pace, his final ball lets him down. Also, everyone comments how Kev's covering saves us, but the only reason he has to save us in the first place is because 9 times out of 10, he gives the ball away. Kev's defending is heroic on times, but it's only because he's covering his own mistakes. The best defenders are the ones that don't get notice, they don't get caught out of position and have to make lunging last ditch tackles. The best defenders have the positional sense to be in the right place at the right time. Personally I would much rather a solid right back who quietly gets on with his job, uses the ball well and can deliver a quality end product. If a full back isn't getting taken apart by the opposing winger, then you don't really notice him on the pitch. I'm not saying Kev does get taken apart, but usually his heroic defending and last ditch tackles is because he gets caught out advancing with the ball too far up the pitch and then sloppily giving it away. I think we definitely need to strengthen this position if we want to push for promotion this season.
