I ent going to dig into Gerrard. He was in our 2009/2010 team which was one of my favourite seasons.
Good to see him leave. We have great defenders and he ent one of them. Turner, Hudson, Blake < 3 top Centre Backs. :ayatollah:

Richard Keogh, I understand, is very keen to join City and it is a matter of getting the fee agreed with Coventry and the deal will go through.

Craig Bellamy wants to return to City , City want Bellamy. Craig is looking for a three year deal and City, I believe would offer a two year deal, it is something that all parties are looking to resolve very soon.

to be honest, i think gerrard should leave because he won't get first team football with cardiff. hopefully bellamy will except a 2 year deal instead of a 3 year deal. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Nigel Pearson is the reason for Leicester's interest in Gerrard, he took him to Hull I believe.

Just got in from the pub have you troll?

If you have a look at the stats, you'll see that Mackaill-Smith spent the biggest part of the second half of last season, starting games from the bench!

The vast majority of his goals came during the first half of last season!

Don't know why I posted that information for you though, as I thought you knew your football! :?

Limited ability imo but I always loved his passion and commitment on the pitch but if he is poor off it then he has to go. Team spirit wins you more games than individual egos

Heard he got worse post Carling Cup final rather than having it be a learning curve for him, which is unfortunate.

Gerrard may be candidate for McInnes
Tuesday, July 03, 2012
FOOTBALL

Bristol City boss Derek McInnes will consider making a move for Cardiff defender Anthony Gerrard – but only if he misses out on main target Richard Keogh.

Anthony Gerrard left is being monitored by City boss Derek McInnes who is keen to strengthen his defence

Coventry skipper and centre-back Keogh tops the City manager's wanted list and McInnes is prepared to play a waiting game if it means bringing the former Robins defender back to Ashton Gate four years after he left to join Carlisle United.

But Coventry have already turned down City's opening bid of around £250,000 and, although the Championship club is preparing to go back in with an improved offer later this month, McInnes is making contingency plans lest he miss out on Keogh, who still has a year to run on his contract at The Ricoh Arena.

And Cardiff centre-half Gerrard, 26, features on a list of potential targets that will come into play in the event that Keogh either opts to stay with Coventry or decides to move elsewhere.

City face competition from Championship rivals Cardiff for the signature of the former Republic of Ireland Under-21 international, who is stalling on signing a new contract for the Sky Blues.

Bluebirds boss Malky Mackay has also had an undisclosed bid for Keogh turned down..

No longer an automatic first team selection after losing his place in Cardiff's Championship team last season, Gerrard could be made available for transfer with any proceeds being used to further test Coventry's resolve.

While Cardiff would happily sell Gerrard to their Severnside rivals if they could first land Keogh, McInnes is prepared to bide his time in the hope that a deal for the Irishman can be completed before the transfer window slams shut at the end of August.

A member of the Cardiff side that lost last season's Carling Cup final to Liverpool in a penalty shoot-out, the 6ft 2in Gerrard is an imposing defender, strong in the air and capable of playing as a right or left-sided centre-back.

But Keogh can also operate at right-back, a position he frequently filled during his time as a City player, and he remains McInnes's preferred choice.

City's manager will continue to hold off while Coventry officials try and persuade their captain to sign a new deal, but it is understood Keogh is keen to play in the Championship and is seeking a move away from the Ricoh Arena following the Midland club's relegation at the end of last season.

His wife is a Bristolian, he still has a lot of friends in the area and would privately welcome the chance to move back to the city.

Although Coventry boss Andy Thorn would rather keep Keogh, finance is a concern and a bid in the region of £600,000 will probably be sufficient to tempt the Midlands club.

Should City ultimately lose out to Cardiff in the race for Keogh, only then will McInnes begin to work through his list of alternative centre-backs.

Gerrard certainly fits City's requirement for a first ball winning central defender with extensive Championship experience.

The cousin of England captain Steven Gerrard, the big centre-back was born in Liverpool and launched his career with Everton. He subsequently moved to Walsall where he made 155 appearances between 2005-09 before joining Cardiff.

Looks like Bristol City are holding out for Keogh and hoping his previous playing time there, his wif being a Bristolian and having many friends in the area may sway it for them. One of the comment below suggest he wants to go there.

Another test of MM's pull, will we lose another one?

Could lead to a strange standoff between us and Bristol, we won't stump up the money for Keogh until we've moved Gerrard on and Bristol won't move for Gerrard until they've missed out on Keogh. What a nightmare!

Hope we move that poisonous scouse prick on one way or another though!

If Keogh has any ambition left inside him then he will realise all Bristol have to offer is recurring championship football....

At least get on the train of excitement and fire and passion

Simple, say to Bristol City that they can sign Gerrard if they pull out of the running for Keogh and then we go on to sign him.

I don't think we have the pull to suggest any such deal. We aren't 'Billy Big Boots' just yet. Bristol City may think they have the upper hand anyway. Keogh could turn down a move to us and Coventry may have to settle for a lesser bid from Bristol. If he wants Bristol he may get his way.
