Well no arguments about people being nationalist or loyalist its a
question of chioce and belief. But here we have people slagging
off the Welsh language and then saying how proud they are to be
'Welsh and British' in the very next breath.

Absolute ignorant pricks.

One fact. Its the stubborn refusal to give up our language that has
kept Welsh 'different' in the first place. Like it or lump it, that is
without question.

So keep on slagging off your heritage knobheads

I can barely speak it but I do plan to at some point when i have enough time. There is no NEED to learn it straight away as I doubt I will ever need to use it

If thats aimed at me?

I have no problem with Welsh people who cannot speak the language. The vast majority of
people in Cardiff cannot speak Welsh yet it is the most fervent patriotic city in Wales.

I do however believe Welsh people who slag off the Welsh language are the lowest of the low.

I can just imagine them on holiday in spain having a laugh and a joke with some English/Scottish
Irish people and taking the piss out of their fellow country men and the language. Sadly, they do
not realise that the joke is on them.

The Welsh language and the Church in Wales' adamant refusal to give up its language and its refusal
to preach the gospel in Welsh is at the very heart of the reason why Welsh people take no shit today.

But thats Welsh history. Not taught in school years ago. The haters are more clued up on the wars of

Well slagging off people who cannot speak the language is dull too.

We are lucky it still exists. Our neighbours have spend 700 years trying to

Your Right I dont speak Welsh, But I do understand a little of it and I dont slag people off who dont speak it, what I do slag off is people who put the Welsh language and Welsh people down. I even brought my children back to Wales so they could learn the language and now both my son, Iolo & daughter Gwenyth Angharard both speak Welsh. Also they will learn all about there Welsh history .

Re: NEW WELSH CREDIT CARDS, LOOKS GREAT !

as you know, I am not Welsh. But tbh, if I was, I would learn to speak Welsh.

Language is a vital part of your culture, heritage and your national identity. This has nothing to do with being opposed to progress or internationalism. Protect your history, learn and speak the Welsh language, your language.

I tried to learn bit n pieces in Welsh, know how to greet a person, how to introduce myself, where I'm coming from etc. Thanks to an old friend of mine from Cardiff, who taught me, and the "Learn Welsh Podcast" which I got off the internet. Hope to speak the language properly one day.

Why? Cos I feel I got to show my respect for the country and for the people who live in Wales. I came as a foreigner and left as a friend, I feel very much at home in Cardiff. "German by birth, Welsh and Cardiffian by heart", like a great friend of mine once said... :ayatollah:

Feudal Wales. Thats our heritage. Back in the day, feudal law dictated that when the Prince
of Wales died (and if he was ruling alone, it was probably after defeating HIS brothers in
battle) died, the land was shared equally amongst his sons. So Wales has always been pretty
much split into four regions. We've always fought each other    England tried
and failed to defeat the Welsh time and time and time again until one clever fucker, King Edward
the Potato thought "f**k it, lets get them fighting each other instead"... Divide and rule.thats why
we bicker so much. Welsh people were discouraged from speaking their own language and punished
in schools, forced to wear WELSH NOT crosses round their necks. In strong Welsh speaking areas
like where my family was from the resentment still runs deep, all English people get the blame. Its
a shame because in this day and age, most English people I know that move to Wales seem genuinely
chuffed when their kids say "bore da" or "nos da" or some such basics.. they love that they are living
here (its their choice after all) and love that their kids are picking up little bits... The primary school
by where I lived in Llanrumney is a Welsh medium school and the waiting list to get in there is huge!!
Llanrumney..who'd have thought it. Over the last twenty years there is a new found love of the language
and its growing. Thats a f*cking miracle given the attempts made to kill it off over the years. Its a
testament to how stubborn, determined and strong our nation can be. The majority of Welsh people
cannot speak the language, yet are still proud Welshmen.

British? I have no problem with people who are proud to be British. Fucks sake I got friends and relatives
who are risking getting killed every day in the forces, I'm no hypocrite. Nowt wrong with Britain. But
(theroretically) why can Wales not stand alone BESIDE the other nations. It dont mean we will start asking
for passports or declare war on Bristol

I like the English, Scots, and the Irish. but I consider myself Welsh, end of really.

Welsh people who wish the language would die though? and there are a few on here?

I'll let the English/German and Irish posters make their own minds up about those
issue ridden saddos

very fair t.a.tbh if i lived in wales and had a young family i would send them to a school that at least taught welsh .yes for the buisness world and in the main outside world english is essential but having a basic grasp of the native tongue would be good and morally right.one day this independence question will be asked of the english too.i,d rather us stay together but if we did split i,d prefer to be outside the e.u apart from trading.one of the nationalist points is that they ,be it welsh/scottish want to be part of the e.u.a lot of english feel that means instead of collecting money from london the new nations would get it of brussels via london.i don,t agree with that so for that reason if england ever go it alone we should be out of the e.u so if we fail then it,s our mess and a mess WE,as english people have to sort out.

Fair enough. I still don't agree but I get your reasoning. The one problem about learning our history is that Welsh history is not really taught in the Welsh education system at all, which I do think should change.

You dont agree about what ? me calling people plastic Welshmen ? well if someone says I thing to you then something to some other person you would call them a 2 face tw*t ? Well I use the word plastic, and for a Welshman to only be a Welshman when it suite them , I cant think of anythig more plastic. As for History the english education is to blame for that, they stopped Welsh in schools and also Welsh History in schools Why ? Cos its one of the best ways to kill and language and to kill the pride of a Nation ,when that Nation is only fed on english history. Also Remember alot of what england claim to be great english victorys the Welsh had a great hand in it , Agincourt for one. even before the foot soliders moved the Welsh bowmen killed more than half of the French ,yes on TV when you hear about it , they claim it as a great english Victory.

I could also go on about Nelson , and Drake but it would take too long. I will just say this, Drake was a Cornishman, and No Cornishman I know would claim to be english. Call a true Cornishman an englishman he would take your head off.
