The player has said he wants to play for the manager so prehaps we shouldn't look further than that. Shackell and Burnley is again an interesting one Derby don't want to sell but may be forced to and again we should remember Burnley are going to receive £8m in PL parachute payments plus £6m for the sale of Rodriguez.

I'mnot really worried about things at the moment because there is not any mass activity in the transfer market at the moment although I think we are about to enter a period of increased activity.

Whatever the final outcome I believe our club will break it's transfer record during this transfer window.

When burnley were relegated the parachute payments were still only for two years so they don't have any money coming this year.

I think its the way these players has seen for themselves the way we are treated unfairly by match officials (which are what 95% of the time english) and we a welsh club, playing english opposition! plus the way we tuant the english im sure it gets thier backs up, (even our own english born players) maybe thats why we get so many scots playing for us!!

Re: Bjorn Sigurdarson

Do people have any idea on anything??

You dont always get your targets, not even Man Utd!

When negotiating would you go in with the exact money the selling club wants?? I assume you conducted this tactic when buying you current home did you? Im sure you didnt try and get the price down.

Jay Rodriguez wasnt one of our "main targets" MM said he just went for him to see what happened even though he never thought we would get him.

Some of you are saying "offer him more money" Im assuming you didnt complain when the accounts got released and saw how much debt we are in. Easy to spend other peoples money. So you want VT to plough loads of money in but he's not allowed a say on the club he's providing for?

Sordell didnt come as he joined a prem team, not our fault.

Noone didnt come because the brighton chairman flew home and scrapped the deal personally, again not our fault. Vardy wanted to be close to his daughter........

What more can we do, we are not Real Madrid!!

Re: Bjorn Sigurdarson

Sun Jun 17, 2012 12:27 pm

My worry is that last season, every player that signed (apart from Joe Mason) stated that the main factor for joining was to do with Malky Mackay. Kadeem was a bit different as he stated that Malky likes to give youngsters a chance in first team football, all the others were linked to MM in one way or another. So it'll be interesting to see how we sell ourselves in the next month or so.

Burnley, Hull and Portsmouth were all members of the Premier League when clubs voted on this proposal and as such are all entitled to benefit. In fact the 4 years of parachute payments were used as part of the CVA proposals Portsmouth put forward to exit administration.

Bjorn Sigurdarson is from Iceland , Ståle Solbakken is from norway,so maybe he would rather play for a scandinavian manager..

Wolves are in a better position than us to capture his signature. People need to chill out as it's early days yet, don't panic as Malky will get the players he feels that will take us up.

Re: Bjorn Sigurdarson

I think the real reason is alluded to in Carl's posting. We simply weren't prepared to pay the greedy agent more than Wolves were and I personally applaud our club for that

He doesn't have to live in Wolverhampton though, many of the players situated at clubs in the Midlands live in Cheshire.

Similarly if he had signed for us he could have moved to somewhere like the Wye valley or down your neck of the woods if he didnt want to live in Cardiff itself.

We are talking about a young kid moving to a foreign country and you have two options.

1.- Move to a yo-yo club whose manager speaks the same language as you and you are 30 mins away from a busy international airport.
2.- Go to a championship club who if you read the forums is close to civil war over the owner who is going to sign you and a manager who may get poached if things are going well and you live 15 mins to a piss poor regional airport.

Patience could be a blessing in disguise Still plenty of decent players out there

Keogh
Bellamy
Dixon
Fulller
Chambers
Mcgugan
Cox
Lovenkrands
Bothroyd
Snodgrass
Lawrence

Just to name a few.

How much serious business really gets done in the latter part of June, when most people associated with football in Western europe are on holiday? The transfer window doesn't open until 1st July!

Don't you think this happens to other teams?

Malky didn't really bring in a bad player last year, although some did better than others.

Let's trust him.

I'm all for banter and discussion, but some of the negativity on here recently is getting ridiculous.

Re: Bjorn Sigurdarson

Sun Jun 17, 2012 2:23 pm

You say Carl that Malky is working very hard in trying to bring in new faces for the forth coming season,is he aware that most fans if not all on here want him to work hard in bringing in the right type of player, personally i have had my fill of signing workhorses and what i would term safety first signings(Lawrence for example) we the fans need to see some quality signings made, and signings to address the lack of pace on the flanks and the real need to sign at least 2 genuine goalscorers ...............i don't know how much contact you have with Malky, Carl, but he must be made aware that the fans are in no mood for excuses why we did not sign this player or that player, they need to see real evidence of ambition to get City to the Premiership, and they need to see it sooner than later
