If we happened to change to salmon pink with Gooseberry trim and called ourselves the Numptyfucks then we would celebrate that too.
The reasons are irrelevant, it is our HISTORY and our PASSION that we have always known and loved.
The story (or most common thoery at least) behind the bluebird name isn't particularly exciting, but once you have chanted it on the terraces over thousands of games, it doesnt matter. What matters is that Bluebirds means Cardiff City and Cardiff City means Love.
So how would you show appreciation for VT, for everything he has done todate and everything he intends to do in the future.

As far as I am aware it didnt come on the shirt until 1988 and wasnt used between 2003-2008, yet some supporters are up in arms about us losing it because of our history? Doesn't seem like it was part of our history for long.

I think the point you're trying to make is that the circumstances COULD be seen as similar in some ways?
Yes it is, the Avatar that is, and do you think there is anything on that crest that could be used to show the clubs apprecitation for the fantastic gift of the land Ninian Park was built on.
Many think that our Blue shirts relate to "The Bluebird" play which was on stage at the New Theatre in April 1911 but Cardiff City introduced the Blue and White playing strip two years earlier around the time the 3rd Marquis of Bute offered the parcel of wasteland on which Ninian Park was built.
Is this a coincidence or does it demonstrate our club has a tradition of showing gratitude and appreciation to major financial benefactors. If the answer to that question is yes then how do you think the club and fans from 1910 would look to thank VT for his financial support.

So what you are hinting at Gray is we changed our colours in 1909 as a show of apprication to a benefactor who gave the club something it couldn't possibly afford at the time?
Interesting so VT's change to Red is the second rebranding in the history of CCFC![]()
Good spot

BTW the Rugby team of Cardiff have also always played in Blue surely there has to be a connection or reason for the Blue?

I haven't seen many pledge thier loyalty purely to that specific badge. What, I believe, the pro-blue brigade are focusing on is that, since we have had a badge, the focal point has always been the Bluebird. We have had many, many different badge changes over the years, as has any club, so nothing is new there, but the BlueBird was always the constant throughout.
While the word bluebird is obviously still there on the new crest, it seems to have taken a back seat to the dragon.

Restored cardiff castle and castle coch.
He died young in 1900 but still unsure if the blue & white links?
Was it simply because it was the start of a new era, as we are seeing today.....?

Craig the Marquess of Bute is a title in the peerage of Great Britain which can be traced back to the 14th century. An hereditary peerage so the line continues today. The estates of the marquessate of Bute contains shit loads of land and back in 1908 the estates of Bute offered Cardiff a parcel of land on which Ninian Park was built.
We changed colours the same year as the estates of Bute gave the land for the new stadium and given the clear use of Blue and White on the crest of the marquessate of Bute for me it's no coincidence we changed our colours to Blue and White.
Call it a renbranding or whatever it shows that our club has in the past changed colours in apprecaiation of a major financial benefactor.
Why not do the same now that's the question I'm asking.

This is one of the best threads I've ever seen on here - this should be put at the top of the page as an announcment, as it goes to show that rather than tearing up our history, we are in fact being true to our history and carrying on a noble tradition started in 1908 of changing colours when a significant benefactor is awarded for his actions towrads us.
It's true that VT may be doing it for a potential return, but its still a risk for him, and he could lose a lot of his money.

Thanks for the history lesson.
Very informative, tha!.
So the answer isn't that in 1908 the new Cardiff City FC was offered a cheap set of 'knock off' blue and white kit off the back of a horse and cart?
As it happens I agree with your main point. I don't mind much what colours Cardiff City play in when they run out at Vincent Park.
