Turner got great vision for a long ball on times.
Also he hoofs the ball? Well better than having Gerrard just taking to much time and giving it away.
Turner does the best thing which is get the ball away from danger, where most of our defenders give it to them by passing it across the floor.

Hes good in the air and strong but ive seen snails turn faster so i dont think he classed as the best center half in are league rite now

and how many corners did he give away from poor clearances that was not under pressure from.

Teams soon found out last season that if they knock the ball over the heads of Turner (and Hudson) then as you say snails turn faster and if the opposition then have a pacy forward we are struggling straight away. Would get absolutely slaughtered in the Premier League. And before anyone mentions the Carling Cup Final, yes they were both outstanding that day and threw themselves in front of everything but that was just one game. Would never sustain that over a whole season against Premier League teams. And Liverpool played a game that suited Turner and Hudson. They didn't play balls over the top to get them turning slower than snails.

I agree maybe snails was to slow to compare them to but like you said anything over the top vs a quick player there left behind even from a dead start at times ive seen them left for dead just by the player there making tap it past and run, as for the cup final i dont think they could of hit much over the top as most of the game we was on are own box and it was block block toss everything in front of them, but that come with the lines ups and standard of players between both sides
