I want to know what Rock all these nationalists have crawled out from. Very rarely do I hear the National language spoken in the streets, mostly English. Funny that...

Because the English diluted our mother tongue out of the valleys when the industrial revolution took place, I was brought up to speak English and was told to leave Welsh alone, I did as I was told, my Welsh speaking in laws used to get hit by their teachers if caught speaking their mother tongue in class, "English is the language of the future" they would be told. So the 'rock we crawled out from' was put there by the English a very long time ago.

You slag off nationalists, criticise others for their beliefs, well sir I am a nationalist, a non Welsh speaking nationalist (non fluent anyway!!) , I am Welsh not British, have no affinity to the Union flag or our foreign monarch. Good for you if you don't agree with my principles, you believe in what you believe, fine, no probs. But name calling because we are not on your side?

wy grandparents on my dads side were welsh speakes brought up in the rhonnda in the early part of the last century and didn't come across any of the anti welsh language teachers that we have heard about. however english was the main language due to the high number of english, irish, and scots in school brought in by the jobs in the mines

Stop stereotyping all welsh speakers. We are not all bitter, xenophobic, nationalists with a chip on our shoulder. There are many nationalists who do not speak the language, and consequently blame the English for that.

No not at all, how can you "win"? The language was obviously hampered in the 19th and 20th Century as we are well aware, and only now are we seeing any real increase in usage. I don't call that "winning".

If you think for one minute that we would have produced so much coal without English people your more deluded than I thought. And if you think that English, il use your idiotic turn of phrase, "dilution" won't continue in the future then again your fumb as duck.

End of the day a lot of young Welsh people leave this country in search of jobs in England they are then replaced by English people or Polish or Pakistani people. Answer me this, are the mass influxes of Polish and Pakistani people in to Wales also diluting the already diluted language?

So let me end in replying to your further insults.

1. Didn't know you had to be a Welsh speaker to want an independent Wales.
2. 4. Just off to another 12 hour shift, and then into a studio to do some recording having been up with my 2 year old since 6am,a daily occurrence, yes i am lazy!
5. I have not or never will preach my beliefs and political leanings, it certainly appears to be the other way round though I don't deny a lot of the Pro Welsh have been doing that on here, not me. I did Welsh in school, and did OK, but was crap at school and what I learned got lost growing up in the English speaking Valleys, I was more interested in football from the moment I came down to Ninian as a 10 year old in 1978. One day when time is on my side (which it never is!) I will return to the classroom and learn my mother tongue properly.

So do we now call the people of these towns English, Scots, Irish, Hungarian, Italian, etc etc ??? Or do we like to call ourselves Welsh?
Especially as this happened a lot later than the Queens ancestory is being traced back. So we are more foreign than the Queen is.
Perhaps I could be informed of what we are now??

I am Welsh and very proud of it - I served in the RWF for 9 years and later served my country in another capacity.

However I know that my country, WALES, was never a united country we never had a King, we had Princes each owning their OWN part of wales for THEIR purpose and fighting each other (well , getting people like us to fight for them}

It was not until we were conquered by England, because they feared us so much, that WE were able to have an impact on the world.

Since then the WELSH have been major explorers, scientists, politicians etc - I do wish we could have done it alone but I do chuckle that the English made it happen!!
