To me it's going to take a relegation, the old guard will stay like they did in the NP days and the plastics will f**k off to OT where they belong. :old:

That will come way to re creating the old atmosphere will all knew and loved :old: :old:

We need plastics to boost our match sales.
Every club has plastics, just look at man utd, man city, liverpool, chelsea.
If someone wants to buy 1 ticket for a big match every season, then they have the right too - just get over it.
If every loyal supporter of our club can bring one or two plastics to the football every game then we would be getting sellouts every week. Who knows they may enjoy the experience and come back again. :ayatollah:

I think the old fart does have a point, although he does come across a little extreme.

Who are the old guard????

There were plastics in 1948, ten of thousands of them.
There were plastics in the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's 90's, & into the new millenium.
You need a time machine to go backwards (Jules Verne), & IF you ever go back their, you'll only have yourself to blame if you don't like it!!!

Man utd have announced a global following of 650odd million. That's 649930000
plastics, imagine each fan spends £1. That's some dough, we need fans, New, old, plastics whatever, more fans more revenue.

Absolutely, & any one with at least one brain cell left can understand this simple law of economics.

Having said that, there will always be one or two Neanderthals who would rather go back to the stone age.

Such is life!

I'd love it too. It's just what this club needs right now to get it back on track. "You cannot appreciate the highs if you haven't seen the lows" is banded about on here a lot. Well the lets say, newer fans haven't appreciated many lows compared to my 64 years. Those that stay with us when we eventually tumble down the leagues will be true hardcore bluebirds like myself and many others on here.

Just out of interest, what is in your opinion, the lowest of the lows that you have experienced in your 64 years following Cardiff City FC?

One of the lowest points was the first season at the CCS. To see all the plastics walk around like they owned the f*cking place riled me up. They wouldn't dare come down NP :old:

The lowest? 1996 no doubt. :old:

Interesting. My father told me the lowest point for him was City getting relegated back to div 2 in 1957, last home game of the season v Man Utd, att 17,708.

Don't get me wrong that was a low point for us and I remember it well. However we had given the first division a good f*cking go that season. At least I got to see the great Duncan Edwards in action along with the rest of the Busby babes :old:

What a privilege to have seen such great players. Who was your favorite City player in the 50's? My dad liked Gerry Hitchens amongst others.

Re: Deplastification of Cardiff City

Wed May 30, 2012 6:11 pm

Hitchens was a great player tragic that he died so young.

I always like the local lads to be honest. It is hard to look past Alan Harrington from Penarth. It took two broken legs before he stoppled playing for the Bluebirds.

Yes, it was tragic. Tell me, as i have often asked the question without getting a valid reply, but when City won promotion back to div 1 in 1959 they played home games in all white. Why was this?

I really am interested to know,,,,from anyone. Why did Cardiff City play home games in all white In 1959?

I know that probably only our older generation of fans may know the answer, but after all the recent furor over our colour change, surely the attitude was the same 50 odd years ago???

I have no idea why we played in White that season, I have often wondered why myself but I literally have no recollection of that season. As for the vile language I occasionally use, well that's the culture I was brought up in. Roath men were always swearing back in the day. :old:

So you didn't mind back then, fifty years or so ago, that Cardiff City FC, should wear the same colours that that same little club, down the road , played in then?

Re: Deplastification of Cardiff City

Wed May 30, 2012 8:28 pm

It's a lot different now though isn't it. We are talking about a foreign occupation of our club who are concocting a barbaric regime which is threatening the very identity of our club. I was probably against the colour change in the 50s but until I know why they did then I don't know.

This change though is done purely for money, they are pandering to the plastics demands of premier league football and I for one do not like it.

Yes, ok, anyway,,,where can you buy Cornish Rattler in Roath?

Re: Deplastification of Cardiff City

You will often find me in the Cornerstone and the Albany. Used to go to the George quite a bit but it's been infested with Students recently.

I have never seen a Cornish rattler drank in Cardiff let alone Roath, I apologise I am a real ale man myself :old: :old:

It is my favourite Cider along with Devon red. I don't think you will find many pubs that sell it here, I often go down to Cornwall with the wife and it's sold in abundance down there. I imagine tescos will sell it too. :old:

I have made a phone call to a friend of mine, he reckons you can buy a Cornish rattler in Cafe Sereno which is located on Albany road. This is not too far from my house, I may take a visit there tommorrow :old:
