i can see positives in the death sentence , but they get off with it easily then because theyre dead. if locked up for life meant locked up for life , let them rot away for the rest of there life , in a boring cell.

Well done sir hope you enjoy your thoughts on life

Do you have any evidence/studies/facts to support that point?

Because I have a case to disprove it, it is called the United States. Why don't you visit, any one, of the States which still, or have, implemented the death penalty and then study their crime rates. Guess what? They have more crime! Furthermore, rates have not increased after the removal of the death penalty. So your argument that 'shit happens' because there is no death penalty is completely invalid.

Will do, thank you.

to be fair they have about 300 million people an we got about 60 million in the uk , id say there would be a lot more crime over there

Irrelevant. Statistically the death penalty has had no effect on crime rates; in fact states WITH the penalty have HIGHER crime rates.

This graph demonstrates how states WITH the penalty have HIGHER crime rates. Proving the majority of your arguments invalid.

interestingly enough on the death penalty
who would have called for the death penalty for Sam Hallam after convicted for murder in 2005. who after 7 years in prison is now a free man after his appeal was successful and is a victim of a serious miscarriage of justice. Now if we had the death penalty and he was sentenced to death, the Government and Justice system would have killed an innocent man and in my book thats murder.

I know you didn't just try to claim that states have higher crime because of the death penalty.. lawdy

That graph shows that out of 50 states there are 15 that have no death penatly and they are far from the most populated states. Not that I am in favour of the death penalty across the board but if you are going to try to back your argument up with facts at least ensure they are accurate ;)

Absolutely shocking and tragic.. Words fail me, how anyone could do something as evil and cowardly as that is beyond me!! I do hope that whoever is responsible are now consumed by so much guilt, that they go make good use of a piece of rope and a tree!! R.I.P to the 6 childern who died! Can't even begin to imagine what the parents must be
going through!!

...but my facts ARE accurate? Have you checked your own outlandish claims?

Allow me to correct you:

"and they are far from the most populated states". Really?...

New York: The third most populous state with around 20,000,000 people does not have the death penalty.

Illinois: The fifth most populous with around 13,000,000 citizens does not have the death penalty.

Michigan: Has NEVER had the death penalty and has a population of almost 10,000,000 (8th highest)

New Jersey: Has a population of around 9,000,000, and guess what? No death penalty!

Massachusetts: Around 7,000,000 and once again without the death penalty.

I could continue but I think you get my drift. Research your own claims before failing to correct others.

The states you quoted there total 59,000,000 people the 2 most populated states California and Texas have a combined population in excess of 63,000,000 so yet again you argument is flawed.

take a look at the map as iI think it speaks for itself

Image

red = death penalty tates
blue = no death penalty
yellow = has a death penalty but hasnt used it since 1976.
striped = has a death penalty but has ruled it unconstitutional.

That is all irrelevant, you claimed that they are "far from the most populated states" when in fact many are in the top 10.
