Wow Man U raised $233 million dollars on the New York stock market.

I seem to remember when u posted about this happening before Carl, that someone quoted "man united got floated on the stock market before and this failed so whats the point"

$233 million a failure? Seems some people on here just talk shit for their own agenda sometimes.

Worth a try init what we got to lose :ayatollah:

It was me , among others , who posted about the Man Utd failure and it related to their failed share placing on the Singapore stock exchange where a total lack of interest led to them withdrawing the offer. If Man Utd can`t raise enough interest with their following in the Far East , how can we?

Man Utd then went on to place about 10% of their shares on the NY Stock Exchange where they managed to raise the funds - I don`t think the shares have increased in value since to enable investors to make a profit.

Also , Cardiff City don`t qualify financially to apply for a listing in Malaysia under current rules for at least 3 to 5 years (see my posting under "FAO Since 62")

The BBC article just copies part of a previous article from Reuters news agency based on Far East sources (probably reliable knowing Reuters) as the club has declined to comment on the accuracy of the article.

However , a few key points should be noted about the article

1) it says that the possibility of an IPO share placing is being considered but stresses that no decision has been made about whether it will be done and , if so , when or where. It is therefore far from being the case that the headline here suggests of "CCFC floated on the Far East Stock Exchange

2) The Malaysian Bursa is a relatively smal stock exchange , particularly compared to the one next door in Singapore or the one in Hong Kong , so seems quite a strange one to try and launch on to attract the widest range of potential investors

3) CCFC Holdings is nowhere near in a good enough financial position to apply for a listing in Malaysia or anywhere else for that matter. The Malaysia Bursa rules require a track record of at least 3 to 5 years of unbroken profit record above a certain level and CCFCH has hardly ever made a profit (1 year only in the last 10 from memory) so won`t qualify for at least
3 years from when it starts making a profit

A cynic might say that the leaking of this news to Reuters might just be part of the negotiation ploys to get Sam Hammam to convert the Langstone debt into shares on the promise (probably not fulfillable) of a big profit on a flotation or IPO.

It's all one big act to convince Langstone to convert their debt into shares. Once again in a roundabout way the fans are being used.

Is this a new debt?

When did a small village on the outskirts of Newport lend CCFC money?

I'm no expert on this but the Malaysian stock market is league one standard compared to the FTSE. I would hope Lanston would seek good advice on this before deciding and not rely on the emotions of a fan.

Pointless reply.I presume Langstone is actually Langston. Does that make a big difference for you?

It won't make any difference to the 28 million owed and that the stage act has been seen through.
