I think this is the cause of all this rebranding nonsense.

littlebluebird wrote:To the Board of Directors of Cardiff City Football Club,

RE: The Planned Rebranding of Cardiff City Football Club.

I am writing to you on behalf of the many supporters of Cardiff City Football Club. We collectively feel disgusted, disappointed and betrayed by the Board of Directors of our football club for considering plans to ‘rebrand’ Cardiff City Football Club. The changes that have been proposed include:

    a) The change of the Club colours from blue to red, including changing the existing stadium colour scheme to red;

    b) The change of our home kit to red, and the relegation of a blue kit to become an away kit;

    c) The removal of the ‘Bluebirds’ branding and ideal, which has historically been a part of our club since 1910, to make way for a dragon emblem.

We, as a group of supporters, feel that if these abhorrent changes were to go ahead, it would make a mockery of our Club’s history and identity, which has been present for over 100 years. We feel betrayed that our Club’s history and identity has been treated with such disregard to even consider these ridiculous changes.

The change implemented to introduce a white away kit for the 2011/2012 season was laughable enough, when this has been the colours of our most bitter rivals, Swansea City Football Club since their existence. The change of the home kit, and team colours, to red from the traditional blue would be a further insult. Cardiff City Football Club have played in blue and had blue as the traditional colour since 1908, making it 104 years of having blue as our Club’s colour. We, as a group of fans, are very happy to remain blue, and to remain Bluebirds, and do not welcome these proposed changes in any way. All of the information referenced above appears proudly on the Cardiff City Football Club website, suggesting that the Board of Directors are proud of and want to disseminate the Club’s history and identity. Therefore, we would like to pose the question to you, why do you want to make these ridiculous changes to our wonderful Club?

These changes will undoubtedly have a massive financial cost to our Club to implement. We find this difficult to accept as this money could be better spent in many ways, for example, to strengthen our squad and to give us the best chance of getting promoted in the automatic spots, and possibly even be promoted as Champions. Would this not be a better idea than wasting money on a complete overhaul and rebranding, being left with little money to invest in the team itself? Had we strengthened and invested in the team in the January transfer window, then we may well have been promoted to the Premier League this season.

If these changes go ahead, we believe that this will destroy Cardiff City Football Club, not only in terms of history and identity, but also financially and as a business. Many fans posting on social networking sites and forums are stating that should these changes go ahead, their support for the club in that capacity will cease, with the cancellation of season tickets being the main topic of discussion. Also, you as business men, have no idea of the dynamics and interests of football supporters if you believe that these changes would be well accepted. The sense of unity that has been created by the current branding of the Club will not be emulated should these changes occur.

We hope that you can understand the points that we have raised in this letter, and we hope that you decide not to advance with these proposed changes. Please find below a list of signatures in petition of the proposed changes.

What a pathetic thread, you don't even know half the facts and you're already protesting. Yesterday CarlCCFC was brandishing rubbish now this? Some of these fans don't deserve a club to support.

Some of the replies to this thread are :oops: and :lol:

You wanted the Eggers out of the stadium and their badges gone: DONE!

You wanted PMG out: DONE!

You wanted the debts paid off DONE!

You want investment in the football team DONE!

In order to move the club forward we need to make it marketable. Let's be shit in blue or great in red. What fecking difference does it make?????

And before you ask I have been supporting the City for 40 years and to be honest I am sick to death of BLOODY FAILURE.

Our crowds have gone down this year even though we have done remarkably well. What kind of crowds di you think we would get if we went into administration????

We are £40, £60, £70 million (or whatever figure you believe) in debt.GET REAL and support Cardiff City whatever colour we play in :ayatollah:

I'm against it but don't see how it would be in the owners' best interests to change the colours when such a large section of the season ticket holders don't want a change. Red as the away kit, fine, but not as the home kit.

Because we need investment and red is the colour that they think can get more investment. We need the money otherwise we will go into liquidation :oops:

Brilliant memories of the City since a nipper, Real Madrid, Hereford 76, Sayers winner against Spurs,Buchanan's thunderbolt against Swansea, Blakey's screamer against Man City, etc & we played in blue. If foreigners change our history i'm finished with football, the game has sold it's soul.

I think this could probably end the existence of Cardiff city fc I'm disgusted that this has been concsided just because tan likes the colour red what next ? The red birds I think if this went ahead it would be the beginning of the end for the mighty bluebirds it would be like switching teams just like the Chelsea fans are now man city fans just because they are doing well and that should not happen I mean it's the bluebirds not redbirds have a think Vincent b4 you kill a club you only ever have love for one club and I fell in love with Cardiff city at a young age so I hope vt don't try take that away blooooooobirds bloooooobirds blooooobirds :ayatollah:
