If you want a topic about Whitts, you start one. I've already said he had a good game apart from the goal. Full backs are there to stop crosses coming in and he didn't do that. I know who else failed to do their job at the first goal but there was moans to get Kev dropped and Darcy in and that's why I've brought it up. It's not a hate campaign or anything else that you ridiculously suggest.

Thats a fair point but kev and darcy I agree with that

I just feel that Hudson should take more responabilty for the goal than Darcy

At the end of the day it's a collective thing. I don't think I've seen a City team give the ball away so cheaply so often as we did in the first 45 minutes last night, but when you do give it away you then have to defend it - and for that goal in partiular, we clearly didn't.

Think people are being a bit harsh on Darcy for their first goal, as Hudson clearly passed the ball to an opponent and Darcy got done by a measured pass, when Vaz Te did superb to cross the ball into the danger area, where Taylor took too long to realise the danger!

I thought overall, not too many of our players came out of the game with much credit last night, but I thought Darcy was one of the ones who did and was possibly our MOTM!

It wasn't a great clearance by Hudson, but I don't think anyone could really blame Darcy for losing Vaz Te. It was just a good pass from whoever it was, can't remember who

I like Taylor and he is a quality player but he was 'caught napping'.

It was a shit clearance/pass tbh, which was a pity as his performances have improved greatly overall since he came back from injury, but as well as costing us the first goal, he played an even worse pass, which subsequently led to Carlton Cole being put through, with Turner having to make a great tackle to recover the situation!

I also like Taylor and feel he has been one of our most consistent performers this season, but he reacted too slowly to the danger and I felt that we could have easily avoided conceding it! I also felt the defence were too slow to come out, after we had cleared the ball to the edge of the area, when Collison scored his deflected second goal!

It was a pretty regular clearance by his standards, but unfortunately it went straight to a West Ham player. But I don't think you can place the blame solely on him. Blake - to an extent, despite my previous comments - was culpable and Taylor most definitely was. As for the misplaced pass which led to Cole going through on goal, it wasn't great but it was a forced one, seeing as we were pushing for the equaliser. I was confident that Turner would catch him up though.

In terms of the second goal, it was just 'random luck' as Malky put it.

We've flogged the Hudson thing to death, so we'll have to agree to disagree, as I thought both passes/clearances were unforced and poor!

I agree that the second goal was a bit fortunate, although it seemed to be going in the left side in any case and although Taylor was impeded in his effort to close Collison down, we seldom seem to rush out of goal, once we've cleared the ball to the edge of the box!

We also back off and back off in open play, always appearing to allow our opponents to catch sight of goal, before we finally go to close them down!

It all started from hudsons worthless attempt to clear it with went like ten meters from his hoofball and theb both fullbacks were at fault.

He has not played enough simple as that. Thrown into the deep end.

We need a new right back full stop IMO.

It's basic defensive duties of a full back, what 9-10 minutes in? I don't think lack of gametime can be used as an excuse.

My opinion and thats that.
Awareness, sharpness decreases without games. I'm not sticking up for him by the way it was poor but just don't think it helps when you don't play games.
Same as Ernie cameo roles are not enough to produce the goods.

This 'closing down' thing does my head in tbh. We could have closed down Collison quicker for the second goal I agree, but WHU were still very fortunate with the deflection.

As for backing off in open play, loads of teams do it, not just us :? It only ever seems like we're the only ones who do it. I saw Rio Ferdinand do it against Yaya Toure just the other night!
