Bigger than Swansea, smaller than Shefifeld Wednesday

Im talking about big clubs.. teams with history and big fan bases in the world of football.. Cardiff have neither except an FA Cup 80 years ago

Yes, but nobody, even our own fans think we are up with them.

However, Birmingham, Middlesborough, Ipswich etc.. we have more than matched them for corwds now for several seasons.

As a 'big' club I'd say we are in the top 30 these days in this country.

I wouldnt' put you in the top 30 in terms of 'biggness' though. You'd need to have shown you can get big crowds outside the Premier league for that. Virtually all the sides in the Prem are bigger, with the exception of Wigan, arguably Fulham, possibly Blackburn and QPR (all of which I would put as smaller than us), then there are most of the Championship teams, (except maybe a handful including Peterboro, Barnsley Donny, and perhaps a few others) along with the 2 Sheffield Clubs, Charlton, maybe Huddersfield and Bradford bigger too.

Maybe in time if you are at the top for a while and we don't get there, and you manage to extend your ground and fill it then you could claim to be as big as us, maybe bigger. In fairness we have averaged 22-23k for several seasons now in the Championship which is 50% more than you got at the same level (14-15k), so right now, although you clearly are the higher ranked side, you are a good step down in terms of size.

Several  don't you mean this season and last.. your warped! Birmingham and West Ham have been winning trophies and getting 25k+ crowds for years and years, you are know where near the statures of both clubs. Face facts

Birmingham however have only ever won 1 trophy, (you know, the one where we have just been in the Final for) same as us and you may not realise this, but have not had a higher average than we got this year and last in the Championship since 1972 ;) The only time they have got 25k gates has been their 7 seasons in the prem over the last 35 years. 25k in the prem vs 23k in the championship - given the ave away following to us is about 500 and they would have been getting 2-4k (sometimes more) away fans to them - yes we have matched them since we've had our new ground.

Yep but it is that very fact that they have been in the top flight which makes them a bigger club, you are not a big club, big clubs play in big competitions not 2nd rate one's, get it into your skulls, more people know Birmingham FC than Cardiff FC, except malaysia though :?

Who the feck are Birmingham fC or Cardiff FC ffs.

How are you going to back your question up, mine is based on facts. Yours is just a bland statement.

You wanted to base the comparison on trophies won - which I provided you the evidence for.

Then attendances which i also provided the stats for.

Now its how many people know you... ?

Big clubs get emasured mainly by support base -therefore big clubs get big crowds -even outside the top flight.

Massive clubs would include the likes of man u. Liverpool, Arsenal etc..
Very big clubs Newcastle, Sunderland, West Ham, etc

Below that its not so clear

Don't see why we cant be in the bracket below with the likes of Stoke, Bolton, Hull, Brum etc.. all of which I would consider big clubs.

As I said originally, it all depends where you draw the line and what you use to compare.

If you look at recent gates, potential etc.. then we are thereabouts.

If you just look at history and major trophies won then we aren't -and you don't even exist

If you look at recent success then we aren't either.

When are you going to realise crowds don't single handily brand you as a big club! Birmingham have been shown around the world every weekend for years, Cardiff haven't! it's like saying your local corner shop is bigger than tesco's because it has more food in the shop!

No it isn't as there are hundreds of tescos.

If there was only 1 Tesco's and the local shop had more food then it would most likely be bigger

Thats an absolutely sh1t analogy

as in now we probably are probably 30th, but we are not classed as 'big' same as you. Big clubs are teams who stay in the top division for years and win things and are known worldwide. You are not known world wide!

More concerned with the suit he had on as it was a throwback to the early 80s. Totally twatish!!. Apart from that i like him he speaks his mind even though i don't always agree with him.
