The council brought the car park (site of CCS and Retail Park) off the club in the late 80s for a paltry 50 grand which was way below market value even in late 80s. The council have done very nicely out of the deal.

so they gave you the land yes ?

"Understanding", lol.

We pay the council *rent* for the land CSC is built upon. That's *rent*. We own the stadium. Council also benefit from the retail park built upon the rest of the land, which was lying dormant until the stadium / retail park plans emerged.

Your mob, on the other hand, don't own the land or stadium. Stadium managed by Stadco, of which SCFC are a part, who have continually failed to pay the council a bean due to Stadco never having made a profit.

Now, since you're bragging about getting full home attendances, needing to increase capacity, enquiring minds would want to know precisely why Stadco aren't turning any semblance of profit - and indeed, are SCFC using it as a vehicle to deliberately stiff your council.

But, still, there's an "understanding".

Bigger picture is 80% of the time both clubs have been running, we've been above you.
We've been to more finals.
We've been at the higher level more times and longer.
We've played in Europe more often.
We've won more things than you.
We've higher attendances at a lower level than you.
At a comparable level, we had higher attendances than you.

Whilst I admit you're ahead of us in terms of going into admin, the bigger picture is simply we've been dominant over both clubs histories.

Hence, it's quite charming that the far smaller club of the two can have it's little moment in the sun to make themselves feel good.

I think you will find that all of our liabilities are in part and will in full be paid, unlike SCFC who have on both occasions managed to get creditors agreements to avoid paying in full. In all fairness thats water under the bridge, though they will always have to accept that fact. re the Stadium as one of the owners (I pay 3 sets of expensive council Taxes to the City and County of Swansea) I like all other Council tax payers have a share in the ratepayers 70% interest in the Stadium although not liquid shares to convert never the less a rate payers interest protected by a number of covenants, In one word unlikely would be apt in answer to the question can they extend. Simple answer the difficulty is historical as there are many business people who never agreed with the financial agreement, they pay heavy taxes and some are owed large amounts from the clubs over spending in the past. Their Credit rating is not the best form of reference, and its a very complex set up politically driven with a 4 way divide.

waddle wrote:your asking me questions that i cannot possibly answer all i am saying is that swans the council , ospreys and stadco obviously have an agreement over finances

Right, so you can't answer about your own club but can presume about ours, hmm?

The agreement is simple. Council get a cut of Stadco profits. Stadco have failed to make a profit since Liberty opened. Since SCFC are part of Stadco and are clearly minted, as you keep claiming, people are thus justified in asking why Stadco seems to be so poorly managed in that the council are thus not making any return from it.

You own neither your land or stadium, yet can splash cash on expanding it? When you're in fact partners in Stadco? Would the eggers agree to the expansion, which leads to increased maintenance costs for themselves?

Re: "Are you watching Jack bastards"

Sun Apr 29, 2012 10:56 am

One of the main reasons stadco don't make any profit is because I'd the low crowds the Ospreys get. We pay our share, they don't have the crowds to cough up their share.

Errm, seriously?

Swansea play what 19 home games this season. Since you're claiming home sell outs, say 18-19k average dependent upon away following.

Ospreys play god knows how many, with far smaller crowds.

Are you seriously claiming that Stadco's overheads - which would be staff wages, maintenance costs - would dwarf the income from the football and rugby combined? Sounds like an incredibly badly run company, something Huw usually rails against, no?

Haven't the FAW played a game there? No money to Stadco from that? Does Stadco have a licence to run non sporting events, eg concerts?

All sounds a bit fishy.

HA,HA,Waddle,by your own words you show yourself to be a plastic to your club.Apart fron this season and a couple of seasons in the eighties when you were in the old first division your club,by definition, has always been about lower league football so where were you then?Probably supporting another prem team.

i'm just used to a better class of football now ;)

So, if we follow that logic through ;

If (and just for the moment accept this as a possibility) you were to go down in the next few years and spend a few years in the lower leagues yourself, you would then have no interest in your own team, as you now only want to see a better class of football.

Is that what you're actually saying, or have I misunderstood something?

we have been playing good football for a few years now even before we got into the prem , and i'm confident that if/when we go down we'll still play good football irrespective of what division we're in .

from what i've read on here you don't really seem to enjoy the actual football so much more that your team can battle for a result

I'm not denying you play good football or that you have had a very good season - and I think you'll stay up at least next year and possible long term. Also, I accept that a strong argument can be made for that fact that the quality of it has been better than ours recently.

My point however was (and I think you're now accepting it), is that if you did get relegated, you would then be interested in the lower leagues (and if you weren't then by definition you would have been a plastic fan). You have also been interested in the lower leagues for the vast majority of the time you've supported your club (as that is where both of our respective teams have been) - if not, then again, you would be definition be a plastic.

One final question - if your team started to play a less classy stylke of football, would you desert them?

I'm just trying to clarify if you're a genuine Swansea fan or a plastic.

I would support CCFC if we were down in the Conference playing terrible football rather than any other team. Knowing where we've come from, I would never be patronising towards others, as such things can come back and bite you in a painful place.

You may take a similar view with SCFC (I have friends who have supported them through the worst days, and they tell me that good football definitely wasn't being played through some of those days).

If so, I'm just surprised with your initial comments about not being interested in the lower leagues, given the amount of football you must have seen in those very leagues (although in fairness the original post on this thread was provocative and as you have rightly pointed out, all we've done so far is got in with a chance of emulating your success last year).

So, just to clear it up, could you answer 2 simple questions :

1. Would you rekindle an interest in the lower leagues if your team were in them? (I think your answer to this is yes, hence what you're really saying is you're not interested in them as long as you remain in the Premiership).

2. Would you remain committed to SCFC irrepsective of the style of football you played (please don't reiterate you think you'll always play stylish football, as that's not a certainity, although I accept its a probability in the near future).

If the answer to both of those questions is yes, then I accept you are a genuine fan - but be careful about disparaging the lower leages, as your team have only ever had 3 seasons (4 next season) in your history when you haven't played in the 'lower leagues' - don't discredit your own history so easily, I would suggest.

Yes, I understand that, and I think the original poster was not that wise in suggesting singing the ........"are you watching....." song at this juncture, as we've achieved nothing yet, and must be the underdogs this year to actually achieve what you did last year through the play-offs.

For what its worth, you've done really well this year and for the sake of Welsh football lets hope Wrexham and us can get up through the play-offs this year. (you see, to an extent I do have an interest in the Conference now  )
