Luke do you think it was an atmosphere you would expect for what was at stake, the size of the crowd and who the opponents were and the size of their following ?

When you consider what was at stake I expected a livelier atmosphere.

It is what you make it for yourself mate. Never been to a game and worried about what everyOne else is doing. Just enjoyed it for myself. I'm sure the place was full of people who isn't know what to think as it so intense. As is the boro game now

I was in 117 for the first half and Leeds fans put on a good show all fancy dress didn't stop singing. Our fans never got going.

Went back to my normal seat in Canton for 2nd half brilliant atmosphere everyone singing

Re: WE GOT TO LOOK AT OURSELVES

Sat Apr 21, 2012 7:07 pm

Poor .The atmosphere is and was shit at this new stadium I agree with Carl all the ingredients were there and it was poor.

A lot of the not so older songs have gone and when we do try to sing em it just fizzles out.We sing and its Cardiff city,3 little birds ,barmy army and when Sky's are grey and thats about it.

We have loads more songs and we dont sing em and the stewards just dont help do they .You look at other grounds on tv and there fans all stand and sing are stewards are killjoys.

I also think that people are so desperate to see us go up and we have been here in the playoffs before that until we achieve promotion things will stay the same .

We used to be famous in creating an intimidating atmosphere but the club has moved on in many many ways and as a consequence the famous atmosphere has gone.In creating success in many areas and in bringing in a new breed of fans again the consequence is the atmosphere. The old stadium was like visiting an old run down area were you felt you had to swear to fit in and it was very acceptable. The new stadium is posh and you feel it the hole ambiance is just different its like swearing in your Nans house you wouldnt do it would you.

Will it change ? It could but then how you do it I dont no.You start a song off with language in it and someone complains you risk being kicked out. There you go its shit and its here to stay.

sorry but should we really be talking about how poor our atmopshere is.

when we been playing rather sh*t, giving away leads, struggling without any pace in the squad,

im slowly losing love with it all. next season i just hope malky can really live up to the expectation.

the stadium is shocking

i got a great idea > rebuild ninian park as that is only way people on here will be happy!! fed up with people complaining about the atmosphere, wasnt that bad up in main stand always get quiet periods, whilst agree can be quiet some of it is due to way we play nothing to get excited about! so lets please ban talk of atmosphere as unless we rebuild ninian park we are stuck with ccs! get over it!!!

Just a straight question, what would Ninian Park have been like, a full house v Leeds,a win guaranteed play offs and last home game of the season with everything to play for ?

A lot better.

Snacks on laps and polite clapping at the CCS, with chants of "Barmy Army" - oh, the irony.

now now, we all know football is the winner, even if we get relegated and disolve, atleast we had fun, because our new stadium means, be quiet, and lets all have a gay o'l time.

im sorry but ninian park with only 12,000 was fuc*in better than this sh*t even when losing we was loud,

all the stands seem too far apart tbh we need to be closer to the pitch and each other also on the ninian park issue i think it was better because if you wanted to go have a sing and get a bit rowdy everyone knew where to go and you would be by friends and have a good time now because everyone is so spread out and far away from each other its not getting goin.. swap the family with the canton and you have got yourself an atmosphere.... also someone made a good point about the roof being to wide earlier :ayatollah:

atmosphere is subjective opinion some say its ok others say its crap! whatever it is we cant change stadium and being honest footy atmosphere generally has gone downhill since removal of standing areas so until that comes back we wont get old atmosphere of ninian back end off!!! :old:

I got a better idea, why not embrace the new stadium and accept that we had to move on, Ninian park's atmosphere was not created by the stands but by the people who sat (or stood) in them.

No need to get all arsey about it, I am making an observation Allan about the enormity of what was at stake and the lack of a decent atmosphere, not once I have blamed the stadium.

As much as I'd like to stand I don't buy into the standing area being the biggest contributer to the lack of atmosphere, I have been to many all seater stadiums around the UK and I can tell you some of those atmospheres would piss all over ours and some of them even when we were still at Ninian.

Exactly, if all the Ninian/Canton lads were together then the atmosphere would be class! As we all know, the Canton stand is the "singing section", but I sit next to the away fans in the Ninian (117) and you can hardly a hear a thing, which results in the away fans chanting about how our support is shit even though the Canton lot are singing. Some fans say that it's pathetic about the idea of fans needing to sit near away fans to create a better atmosphere but the banter and all that helps, especially with a stadium like ours. Having one stand that sings only works for grounds such as Fratton Park and Anfield. What I'm saying is that we need a lot more "singers" in the Ninian, for some reason loads of fans moved to the Canton after our first season at the CCS. That ruined it.

If the change hating fan elitists grew a pair and sang it'd be fine, better even.

But they are self pitying people that should just do one. Just stand there and whine about the good old days, f**k em. Can't move on and the sheer sickening amount of nostalgia they look back at Ninan Park with is laughable.

Re: WE GOT TO LOOK AT OURSELVES

There is an definitely an acoustic problem and it is a design problem for sure upon reflection (I is no expert on either but I have a mouth and ears, innit). I sit with my lad next to the away (for atmos/banter) as otherwise too sterile for me. I've sat all over the CCS and when I know a section has been vocal, sometimes I haven't heard it - very inconsistent depending where you sit. A poster said couldn't hear Leeds today from where they were sitting - I was next to the trogladites and they were pretty good (but also very ugly - just what do they put in the water up there? Eau Du Freek?). Carl is right though - something needs to be done on the atmos front as for when we should be bouncing, we just ain't! Same thing happened after the Carling v West Ham. I love it when the away are vocal and we shut them up on and off the field. Would have been a different situation at Ninian but improving the stadium atmos should be a boardroom priority. Footie grounds across the country can be family-friendly whilst also being a cauldron. Think we (fans) could also do a better job in coordinating some "strategic" chanting with Twatter and Fuckbook on our not-so-smart phones.

we don't deserve it. took a leeds fan with me today in family end just embarrassing he felt like he was at home

Re: WE GOT TO LOOK AT OURSELVES

.......to be absolutely blunt - I've always look forward to Leeds all season and thought today was going to be bouncing. It wasn't. Everyone that stayed behind to applaud the players and families also felt a bit deflated. It really is up to us at the end of the day.......... :ayatollah:

PS - Enjoyed the colourful Leeds banter throughout the game till the end credits - tosser and v-signs (and more!) in abundance. Also, a very nice touch by one of the last Leeds to leave - came over to the family stand and hoisted up a Speed shirt and blew the sky a kiss. Applause all round......... :ayatollah:

Thought atmosphere was decent to start, then had a few very quiet spells, I sit in Family stand and have to say it doesn't sound good in there at best of times, quite surprised sometimes that others comment on how loud it is in other parts of stadium. Sound definitely not bouncing round stadium, biggest crowd in Championship today too.

I have to say tho that last few seasons at NP, atmosphere quite often didn't get going until 2nd half and sometimes never at all.

Also, referring to last games of season at home (last game at NP home Ipswich?) The team has to take some responsibility as it sometimes takes a performance to crank up the atmosphere.

I agree with Carl.

I spent most of the match listening to the Leeds fans. They had time to take the piss singing songs saying we were not singing etc.

The best response came from the Ninian "standing section" (the man in the yellow coat did have a go at getting them to sit down !!! :D ) - who sang "we will sing when we want to"...enjoyed that bit.

I thought the atmosphere was flat for such a big crowd and occasion. The family stand, grand stand and most of the Ninian stands were quiet. I don't think it was nervousness...just quiet.

Well Done the Leeds fans too for their support to the Eddie May Clapping.

I remember the last ever game at Ninian Park against Ipswich - virtually an exact parallel with today - 2 games to go and a home win and we'd guarantee a play-off spot and I woulkd say the atmosphere was no better than today - and we ended up losing 3-0!

I loved Ninian park (but lets not see it always through rose tinted spectacles!), but I also love the new stadium - and we can still get into the play-offs if we draw next week - come on, let's not over react here guys! This could still be our best season for half a century still.

In Malky we trust :!:

It's the football to blame, there's no much to cheer , Miller is a lame duck and even when we do take the led we don't build on it . Too many fans have been here before and see it all, there's so much ridding on each game that its hard to enjoy it .

In the end that result was shit , Leeds were dire and we should have killed them off . Malky really needs to get in a Striker to help Joe , because Miller runs away from goal rather than towards it and I'm so sick and tired of people making excuses for Miller .

The football is boring at the mo and very little to get excited about. We will NEVER get the atmosphere of the old lady back. The only way we are going to get close is to swap the canton and family stand.

There was not 25,000 fan there as half of the family stand was empty again poor showing the club must sort that problem out.

The stadium is the problem for the poor atmosphere as it is not complete the sound is being lost because of open space behind, I sit in ninian stand 113 and can heard the canton stand but only just heard the the ninian stand or the away supporters and nothing at all from the family stand.
