Your original title suggested otherwise, which is why I took exception to it - and clearly so did one of the Mods who merged the two! You haven't posted much on here, so I'm guessing you haven't been on here long (unless you're a lurker). There are a lot of people on here whose politics are to the left of centre and there are those who stand on the right.

Your "judgement" is an assumption that everyone who agrees with a right wing 'paper, can't think for themselves and are misguided. I find that insulting and I'm not even one of the people you are trying to have a go at.

This is a good messageboard, in my opinion and it's made interesting, I think, by the different views. If you just insult those who have a different view to yours, then it makes you look like a child who's going to take his ball home if the other boys don't play the way he wants to.

Show a bit more maturity and shoot down your enemy with a better argument, not with "you're a thicko, so there!"

You don't need to take a guess as to how long a poster has been a member. It is displayed clearly under someones avatar, and it shows that he's been on here for about a year and a half :old:

I was talking about how much he's been on here, in terms of how much he's read of what different people have posted and their opposing views. Obviously, I didn't explain myself too well.

Why the "old" smiley? When you mock what you don't understand, it makes you look like a child.

I was merely pointing out that it's not neccesary to guess how long a poster has been posting which was something you attempted. I understood your post perfectly btw

You don't need to tell me that, I can also read. So, why the "old" smiley? Do you go to the same school as him or something?

Nope, you've been attacking the OP for making assumptions when you've made a fair few yourself. Firstly you've made the assumption that as I am so stupid as to agree with him I must obviously know him and secondly, the guy might not even be in school and it could be his kid in the avatar. Not saying thats right but you can also be quick to jump to conclusions that may not be correct.

Yes, you have insulted people, by assuming and you've just done it again. I did not change the title and I don't agree with some of what has been posted, just like you. You and I are both to the left of centre but I believe in free speech and freedom of expression.

I'm going to assume for a moment (you've done it enough), that when the SWP (heard of them?) and others attacked a BNP bookshop years ago, you would've been in agreement with that and wouldn't have seen the tragic irony in that - nor that the BNP were given an advantage by looking like victims.

It's about the bigger picture and you shouldn't get too wound up about opposing views, or you'll be going to an early grave due to the stress of life, never mind any other reason.

I am a fervent believer in free speech and freedom of expression. So please do not imply otherwise. Also, I do not condone acts of that nature. So, once again, please do not imply otherwise.

Do you appreciate the irony in your condescending manner?

Not irony, really, I think it's called sarcasm - that's what most people tell me, anyway!

When somebody insults me, I return it in the same manner, to see how they like it - and they usually don't, as you've just proved! Lesson learned, maybe?

You show people respect and they'll be fine with you, despite differences in political beliefs. You and I don't differ much, though, I suspect.

So I've discovered being insulted isn't pleasant? Is that really a lesson learnt?

but yes, I suppose we don't.

I hate being dragged into political debates and I haven't read through this topic, but everyone, I mean everyone, I know who hold right wing beliefs tend to be below average intelligence. There is a clear correlation and I am willing to bet it is the same worldwide, the morons feel safe sticking with the right wing beliefs that cater to their ethnicity rather than embrace other societies. Fact is, nationalism and fascism are outdated, but I shouldn't be surprised people here who grew in a fairly racist 70/80s society hold right wing beliefs, you are largely a product of your time.

Why blame the immigrants? We would all do the same if the tables were turned.

Lay the blame at the true cause of it: capitalism

I fully concur with this. As has been highlighted I am from a different generation, and thus have views which clash with the archaisms of the older right-wingers on this board. I just find it comical that there is an anti-immigration thread, insulting all immigrants in this country, yet it is mine which is deemed insulting.

I agree, but most dont blame the people who come to enrich their lives. Its that in a time of high unemployent it makes local peoples life harder if other workers come and accept lower wages than would otherwise would have to be paid. It does not as the op suggests make you " right wing".

If I use a word which you yourself havent specifically used it doesn't mean that I am making an assumption, I was simply paraphrasing your argument. The argument being that the only possible reason i could agree with this guys views is that if I was mates with him.

I agree with what you're saying. I just think it is a massive shame, and the capitalists are getting what they want - driving wages down, so the companies they own have less expenditures. This country is getting like America in that respect: the Unions are dying, peoples strength to protest is virtually dead: what next.

Re: This Forum Has Lots Of Posters, Not All Are Right Wing

Don't really read newspapers other than the back page of the Echo so my opinions have not been affected by any nonsense written in the Daily Mail or any other paper.

However I believe my opinions in relation to immigration is pretty much the same as the majority of people in this country. If someone has applied for a visa to live, work, study or holiday in this country I have no problem with that. In other words if that person is in our country with the approval of the Home Office i.e. legal immigrant status then fine.

What upsets most people I know is the people who are in our country illegally. How much tax revenues are lost each year? What are the effects on things like the NHS and Schools? What about housing, law and order?

Immigration is not new and there is little doubt that legal immigrants have and will continue to benefit our country. The problem is the illegal immigrants and the costs associated with then being in the country.

There has been a great deal of debate about an amnesty for illegal immigrants, however the costs of granting illegal immigrants has been reported as a conservative £130b which includes things like future pension costs. Where do we find that money, raise taxes? reduce public spending further?

Immigration is and for me always will be an immotive issue until such time that our political leaders get on top of the level of illegal immigration, including for me the repatriation of illegals.

However we should not doubt that our country and society has benefitted enourmously from legal immigration and in my opinion that must continue.

Not sure how those views will sit with the editor of the Daily Mail and to be honest I don't care.

I grew up in the 70s and 80s, like lots of people on here and we haven't switched to Thatcherism or anything further right. Such people aren't a product of their time, in my opinion, they are a product of their upbringing and, sometimes, of their experiences of other "races" which have only been negative.

That's a highly contradictory statement. You suggest that people "are a product of their upbringing". In my opinion, upbringing is directly influenced by era and the present. For example racial intolerence was widely accepted, if not encouraged, by previous generations. Yet now that would be unacceptable, although apparently not.

Not really. Tory Boy just wanted a bit of extra limelight as he thinks he is above just being another poster on another thread.

Just bin them both. Its turning into CCMB.

It's not contradictory, it's true. Every generation has its racists, left wingers etc. To say that it doesn't is blinkered, in my opinion.
