So because we played Liverpool a couple of weeks back in a competition where most of the rounds were before xmas, we are not allowed to point out Malkys obvious failings, and capitulation since January??.

Re: Same old Same old

you're comparing malky who has only been with us just over half a season, to DJ who was with us years.. that's not comparing like for like in my book..
Blasting Malky at this stage is bad, let him get on with it, and just take the view
"I don't agree with everything he's doing, but agree what he's doing is for the good of the club to move forward"..

Then if it turns out we are no better off than when we were when DJ was in, you have grounds for an argument...

give the guy time

Let's see where we end up at the end of the season and remember the rebuilding job Malky had to do and whilst doing it took us to within a penalty kick of winning the Carling Cup :ayatollah:

I believe the summer is when we will really see Malky build the team up to where he wants it but in the meanwhile i still believe and more importantly the Manager and players believe that we can make the Play Offs lets just see where we are in 12 games time and in the mean time do the only thing we can do and support every player that pulls on that famous blue shirt :old: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

We played a team we could have beat in the 88th minute if Miller had put his 6yard shooting boots on? Then this whole place would have been a lot different had we bit those bin dippers. We'd have European football to look forward to!

Re: Same old Same old

"same old same old!"

Give him time FFS  ...Yeah, Malky's doing a terrible job considering how he inherited about 10 players at the beginning of the season, having to completely rebuild the team and his backroom team etc, and considering that nearly all on here were hoping for mid table finish this season at best, and considering that we've only dropped 4 points aginst the top 3 in the league in 6 games, and considering that we were two pens away from winning the carling cup against one of the biggest teams in the world!!

What the f*** are people's expectations on here?! I am more than happy with our season to date and I have faith that he will turn our current poor form around. :ayatollah:

Re: Same old Same old

Yawn Yawn Yawn.

Lest not forget he inherited the best player in the championship - Peter Whitts, and some of the best championship footballers - Marshall, Mcnaughton, Hudson, Mcphail so the spine of the team was there.

He was given funds to bring in some more quality footballers - Turner, Taylor, Gunarsson, Miller to name a few.
Also inhertied / broguht in (whoever is to be believed) someone with a phenomenal scoring record at this level, little Earnie, who was touted by a number of championship clubs so lets not make out he inherited Pompey or Coventry City and a transfer embargo here.

Fed up of hearing this "season of rebuilding" bullshit. What was the f*cking point of DJ building us into an established play-off side to then turn our ambitions to mid table.

We should have ambition, and should be dissapointed when we go 1 league win in 7.

On this point I totally agree with you Polo.

Re: Same old Same old

Annis, ive already stated Malky has many qualities where DJ fall short, and I do like the guy a lot more as a person. He is far more warm and personable.

But that doesnt mean he should exempt from criticsm, however it seems you cannot say nothing against the guy with some people.

Im not demanding promotion far from it, but if things are obviosuly not right, and its plain for all to see in the striker department then as a ST holder ive got a right to a voice.

Yes yawn yawn yawn exactly! I'm as sick of yours and others negativity as you are of mine and others positivity

Yes he inherited a spine of a team but had to bring in the majority of players to fill the remainder of the team and backup, that's a large group of players who'd not played together before.

He didn't bring in Earnie, who had a pants start to the seaon, so cannot be blamed for that.

Yes Dave jones had built up an established play-off side, but what he had built up was demolished within the space of a few weeks when he left with all our out of contract players and loanees, leaving little resemblence to that "established play off team" that you mention.

So what are you suggesting then Polo? You've stated that's its same old same old, so what are you suggesting the club do about this mediocrity?.........

Re: Same old Same old

Fri Mar 09, 2012 1:58 pm

We started off well so the inheritance excuse doesnt wash Barry.

Its not negativity, I want us to do well, nothing would please me more but Malkys been in charge for nearly a season now and his shortcomings are becoming visible.

He is stubborn, had his favourites, makes poor substitutions. All bad attributes thrown at our previous manager. At least our previous manager played with attacking football and gave us something to get excited about. Albeit it was time for a change.

The most glaringly obvious problem is our lack of options up front which should have been addressed in January, and most certainly at the start of the loan window.

Rudy Gestede is a parks footballer but Malky keeps giving him a chance in front of an established stiker like Rob Earnshaw. Earnie may not be the player he was but he knows where the goal is something Rudy doesnt, and something Kenny is struggling with. Should at least be on the bench.

Question: Are you happy you happy playing with 2 defenders and a keeper, in 5 substitutes, at home, and leave someone like Earnie in the stands?

I agree with most of your points there, in particular about Rudy, and malky's poor substitution policy particularly against West Ham. I believe Malky has potential to go on and become one of the great managers in this country, and I recognise that he is raw and inexperienced. We are having a very poor run of form, but i think it's far too early to start with the "same old same old" comments etc, when Malky is clearly not the same as DJ.

It is good for malky to receive a degree of criticism as it will keep him from complacency , but do we want to start backing him to a corner so early on in his tenure when he appears to have such promise?!

Re: Same old Same old

Fri Mar 09, 2012 2:33 pm

My intention is not to back him into the corner, I doubt he reads the messageboard. When fans are frustrated they air their frustration on message boards, social networks.etc. Thats how it works in the year 22012.

I do however think this season we have let a golden chance slip, and weve got a job to make the play-offs now. If it does fizzle out then Malky needs to start next season flying or the pressure will be on.

Personally I didnt get carried away with this Malky Mckay will be manager of United withing the next 3 years nonsense, and he still has some way to go before he could be considered for managing at the top level, let alone be "one of the greats".

PR wise, and the way he deals with the media he is Premier League, tactically he falls some way short just yet. In my opinion anyway.

So whilst yes "Same Old, Same Old" may be a bit dramatic, its no more dramatic than Malky for Man U when we were doing well.

I am with Polo on this, the Carling Cup was amazing and I loved every minute, but now we have to get stuck in to the bread and butter games and get back to winning ways. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Re: Same old Same old

Sorry annis, polo, dont agree. I think malky is as disapointed as all of us the club didnt land any of his 3 main targets.:... Ernie was not a malky signing. Managers perogative. I think the problem is higher up. My view and i got my first ST 32 years ago.

Re: Same old Same old

Fri Mar 09, 2012 4:09 pm

Like I said from the start of the season.

I didn't expect us to reach the play offs (nor a major cup final for that matter!), we are currently fighting for a play off place with plenty of games to go.

Yes, we are playing poor lately, but every team has their run of poor games.

Re: Same old Same old

Malky lost chopra, burke, bellemy and bothroyd. Four top players. Any club would find it hard to lose a strkeforce of that quality. The four would walk into any side in this division.
