But look at the risk West Ham are running - if they fail to get promoted they are in a desperate situation. Is that spending power or spending foolishness? I think Malky is pointing out and wondering how you compete with wild and crazy spending.

After supporting the city for over 40 years, and along with a lot of people have had many a roller coaster ride with the bluebirds, more often than not on a down rather than an up. I have heard many a manager make many a statement, seen many a manager make a cock up or a tactical balls up. I firmly believe that the club often "fire fight" too and often too late. Over the last few seasons since returning to the second tier of football we have established ourselves as a force in this league, we have shown we can compete. we have never been the best or biggest spenders but we do seem to find a good team from nothing.

Reading between the lines I would say that MM has been looking to the board for money, but this came too late, the bids we made were way too late to make increased offers, thats if MM wanted to make any higher bids. I can see further progress with the player we bid for during the summer, and further signings too.

This season we have made history, this season we are on another roller coaster, this season I for one will continue to follow my team whether that is into the play offs or not, I do believe that this manager we have now, and as long as we can keep him, will lead the team to further history making and who knows even into the prem.

What ever will be I will be there

If you say so. They both had more to spend than what they did while offering Premier League wages. Fact is, we can't compete with that just now - regardless of the offers we made in January.

Heres the FACTS AS YOU call it ptb none of them spent over the 5million we was supposed to have had if you think are position in the league was not good enough to get more players in like westham/saints did, as for are offers 5-6 hours before deadline well that was a joke in its own rite. Please tell me when would be a better time for you to get players in, next season before we kick a ball or maybe if we ever get to 3rd spot again ???? Because jan we was in 3rd place four points above 4th and one one point below 2nd and all we had was "WE NEED MORE PLAYERS" comming in interviews/papers for 8months ,wake up will you

Wake up to what? We made offers and nothing came of them. West Ham and Southampton were making offers on everybody and anybody and those they did get they are paying Premier League wages. You'd quite gladly spend anything to get us up and that's half the reason we are eyeball deep in f*cking debt.

Southampton offered Celtic £6 million for Gary Hooper on top of all the other signings they made. If that had come off, he'd have been on a minimum of £30k a week. Spending money does not earn you promotion in it's own right, as us and many others have found to our cost in years gone by.

Money was available, Malky made offers, nothing came of them. Why spend for the sake of it? Is that the answer. The manager has a system and I'm quite happy to back his system.

We should have strengthened in january & gone for a shot at automatic, we were playing as well as anyone & were in a ideal position to go for it.I can't buy into all this let's consolidate this season & have a go next season, would a marathon runner two thirds into a race & they're in the leading pack say "f**k it, i'll have a go for winning next year"? i personally think we've missed the boat & it'll only pile on the pressure for next season, pity really because there's only a thin line between us & the top two.

The owners got their fingers burned last season with DJ, cant see them putting in millions and millions again this season with a untested manager.Next season they might plough more money after what Malky has done on a shoestring so far. what happened to most fans saying top 10 would be a good season, myself i am enjoying this season much more than the last 3/4 seasons, we all want to be in the prem and anything can happen in this league. IN MALKY WE TRUST :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

My opinion on this is...

People moaned myself (and probably annis) more than anyone about dave jones' shitty panic buys and loans.
Now people are moaning about Malkys way of being incredibly precise when making his signings.
You cant have it both ways.
Also recently we have seen pompey, rangers port vale etc become fucked, we arnt much different. The days of football clubs and owners chucking millions at players with the exception of man city and a few others are long gone.
If we can find a few loans great, If not oh well.

I will back malky judgement 100%

In 15 odd years of watching city this is by far the best :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

I back Malky AND the people running the Club.

You're spot on mate.

Chucking untold millions at a Premiership push nowadays is a surefire way of ending up
right in the Shit. Watch this space... Leicester, Southampton, West Ham... one of these
Clubs will be fucked in the next couple of years.

MM is building for the future. Getting talented young players in and moulding them. Its
obviously not all plain sailing, he's making mistakes. But dont we all? We will progress
under him, and that WILL mean Premiership Football. But not in a reckless way. The
owners are working hard to control the debt. I noticed the usuals complaining about a
12m deficit last season. These are the very same people who are ALSO moaning saying
we should be trying to compete with West Hams spending spree. How the f**k can the
manager or board EVER satisfy them?

On facebook, in Emails, by telephone and even over here this week in Bahrain i've had
people patting me on the back saying "hard luck!" about the Carling Cup final. We are
talking about Cardiff City here... everybody HATES us. But the performance of OUR
players that day, dead on their feet, hanging on by their fingertips and taking a
multi-million pound Premiership side right to the wire. We have gained untold new
fans, huge respect and admiration. Our players gave their all for the Club.....

One week later...

They are f*cking deadbeats to some, and the manager is a tw*t, and the Malaysians
(oh yes... the REAL reason for all the backbiting) are once again the bad guys!!!!!!

I'm massively proud of my Club.

But starting to feel ashamed of many of our supporters

Re: " COMMENTS/OPINIONS PLEASE "

Its either the fact that there is no money for players and the late late bids in the last 2 windows for Bellamy and Sordell were just smoke screen fan pleasers OR the prolonged research into new players backgrounds is taking too long to enable City to sign players in time . OK the Noone deal was scuppered last min by Brighton's chairman who flew home from Australia on deadline deal to say no , but I can see no reason why Sordell couldnt have been signed at least a week before the window closed and not a bid with an hour to go !!

Ive been a City fan for over 30 years so please excuse me for being cynical but Ive seen chairman/owners come and go who ALL talk a good un but never spend money on transfers ..... ironically the only 1 who did and got us promoted too is now being publicly criticized by a large number of current City fans for incuring at least £24mil of debt !!!! Damned if you do eh Sam ? :ayatollah: :old: :ayatollah:

Re: " COMMENTS/OPINIONS PLEASE "

I will never understand why Malkay Mackay didn't spend the £4m he was given in January because as I see it our previous manager would have spent it like a drunken sailor on shore leave. We would have ended up with god knows what kind of players and paying them stupid money ala Parkin.

MM has a plan and he is determined to do the right thing for this club and sometimes that may well mean you don't spend the money, even when you have it available, because the players available just don't fit the bill. I will support MM not just this season but for as long as he is at the club because in my opinion we have a diamond, a young rough and still uncut diamond but one when finished will be perfect and will deliver a team that will deliver our dream, Premier League football.

Last week we were moaning about the club being £70m in debt, which let's face it is a huge figure, but off the field we have a board who are trying to sort out the mess left by previous owners. But still we want to spend more, Why ?, it only increases debt and makes it more likely the business will fail.

I still believe we will make the playoffs but one thing I have accepted is that the top 3 places are gone, we gave it a go but 8 months into what lets face it is a new management regime and playing squad we have come up light. But we are still very much one of 9 teams chasing the other 3 playoff spots and I really believe we will get one of them.

Whatever happens then will happen and if we fail it won't be for the want of trying but I'm certain come the summer MM and his player recruitment team will be straight out of the blocks chasing targets they have identified. We will see how much they cost but I will expect some brilliant Bosman signings and maybe one or two purchases, but purchases at reasonable cost.

I don't want the club to try and keep up with the spending at West Ham, Southampton and Leicester because I really believe it will come back to bite them.

If we are talking prem football lets take a look at Arsenal. How much have they spent and at the same time how much COULD they have spent. They have an awful lot of money but Wengers' principle is very similar to Malky (allbeit at an obviously higher level.) but the principle and thinking are the same bring in reletively young players and slowly build,it really is not that dissimilar. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

The jacks had a decent side for the last few years and rogers added to it with quality signings and loan players who were not on silly wages, the championship was fairly weak last season and they took full advantage and deserved promotion
Malky turned up on the first day of pre season training and found 7 first team players in front of him,hes building for the future and blowing money left right and centre on a gamble for promotion is not the way forward for Cardiff city in my opinion.
The best option for us is snapping up quality free transfers and youth players,i have the upmost belief in malky and his team to do this effectively in the summer.
How much wages do you think the likes of maynard, nolan and billy sharp are on? and remember west ham will invest heavily in the summer if they do reach the premiership.
Look at QPR ,they have reckless owners and are right in the thick of a relegation battle.
