In Oct/Nov Malky states 3 times in the media we need to strengthen if we are to go up.
Yet in Jan, they say he had £5 mill to spend. Something does not add up.
Today Malky states this.
"The two top clubs have shown the spending power this year with the teams they have got and the players they have got," he added.
"It's going to be difficult to match that. In January for West Ham to go out and bring in the players they have - it makes them much stronger."
But look at the risk West Ham are running - if they fail to get promoted they are in a desperate situation. Is that spending power or spending foolishness? I think Malky is pointing out and wondering how you compete with wild and crazy spending.
Alex, the above are all Malky's words not mine,
Oh sorry, just used the quote to show I was responding to the original question. Delete the word But if you think I was talking to you.

It's not what money you have, it's what you do with it.

Since when westham spent just under 5million quid and saints signed billy sharp in jan so this staement makes him look a prick and the club for releasing it
If you say so. They both had more to spend than what they did while offering Premier League wages. Fact is, we can't compete with that just now - regardless of the offers we made in January.
Heres the FACTS AS YOU call it ptb none of them spent over the 5million we was supposed to have had if you think are position in the league was not good enough to get more players in like westham/saints did, as for are offers 5-6 hours before deadline well that was a joke in its own rite. Please tell me when would be a better time for you to get players in, next season before we kick a ball or maybe if we ever get to 3rd spot again ???? Because jan we was in 3rd place four points above 4th and one one point below 2nd and all we had was "WE NEED MORE PLAYERS" comming in interviews/papers for 8months ,wake up will you

Now people are moaning about Malkys way of being incredibly precise when making his signings.
You cant have it both ways.
Also recently we have seen pompey, rangers port vale etc become fucked, we arnt much different. The days of football clubs and owners chucking millions at players with the exception of man city and a few others are long gone.
If we can find a few loans great, If not oh well.
I will back malky judgement 100%
In 15 odd years of watching city this is by far the best![]()

We would have ended up with god knows what kind of players and paying them stupid money ala Parkin.
MM has a plan and he is determined to do the right thing for this club and sometimes that may well mean you don't spend the money, even when you have it available, because the players available just don't fit the bill. I will support MM not just this season but for as long as he is at the club because in my opinion we have a diamond, a young rough and still uncut diamond but one when finished will be perfect and will deliver a team that will deliver our dream, Premier League football.
Last week we were moaning about the club being £70m in debt, which let's face it is a huge figure, but off the field we have a board who are trying to sort out the mess left by previous owners. But still we want to spend more, Why ?, it only increases debt and makes it more likely the business will fail.
I still believe we will make the playoffs but one thing I have accepted is that the top 3 places are gone, we gave it a go but 8 months into what lets face it is a new management regime and playing squad we have come up light. But we are still very much one of 9 teams chasing the other 3 playoff spots and I really believe we will get one of them.
Whatever happens then will happen and if we fail it won't be for the want of trying but I'm certain come the summer MM and his player recruitment team will be straight out of the blocks chasing targets they have identified. We will see how much they cost but I will expect some brilliant Bosman signings and maybe one or two purchases, but purchases at reasonable cost.
I don't want the club to try and keep up with the spending at West Ham, Southampton and Leicester because I really believe it will come back to bite them.

I back Malky AND the people running the Club.
You're spot on mate.
Chucking untold millions at a Premiership push nowadays is a surefire way of ending up
right in the Shit. Watch this space... Leicester, Southampton, West Ham... one of these
Clubs will be fucked in the next couple of years.
MM is building for the future. Getting talented young players in and moulding them. Its
obviously not all plain sailing, he's making mistakes. But dont we all? We will progress
under him, and that WILL mean Premiership Football. But not in a reckless way. The
owners are working hard to control the debt. I noticed the usuals complaining about a
12m deficit last season. These are the very same people who are ALSO moaning saying
we should be trying to compete with West Hams spending spree. How the f**k can the
manager or board EVER satisfy them?
On facebook, in Emails, by telephone and even over here this week in Bahrain i've had
people patting me on the back saying "hard luck!" about the Carling Cup final. We are
talking about Cardiff City here... everybody HATES us. But the performance of OUR
players that day, dead on their feet, hanging on by their fingertips and taking a
multi-million pound Premiership side right to the wire. We have gained untold new
fans, huge respect and admiration. Our players gave their all for the Club.....
One week later...
They are f*cking deadbeats to some, and the manager is a tw*t, and the Malaysians
(oh yes... the REAL reason for all the backbiting) are once again the bad guys!!!!!!
I'm massively proud of my Club.
OMG! Someone finally talks some sense.
But starting to feel ashamed of many of our supporters
