You're welcome to it.Neath's a shithole.

Not sure what it's got to do with the Gower being part of Swansea though :?

Why do all you no marks from Neath think we care about which team you support? Lets be honest.. Neath is 98% egg, so even if the remaining 2% were Cardiff city supporters, that would make a grand total of about 7 of you. Hardly a massive impact on our support. Like I said, no one in Swansea gives a shit about Neath. :o

Administrative convenience alone? Well would you care to explain this lot then?....

The Constituency lies entirely within the borders of the City & County of Swansea. It is by far the biggest Parliamentary constituency of the three that make up the local authority

Quote taken from the website for Martin Caton, MP for Gower.
http://www.martin-caton.co.uk/working_hard_for_you

The new City and County covers an area of 378 square kilometres (146 square miles), about 2% of the area of Wales.
Extending from Rhossili Down at the western edge of the Gower Peninsula to Kilvey Hill

The City and County can be broadly divided into 4 physical areas. In the north, the Lliw Uplands present an open moorland feature; the Gower Peninsula in the west, a rural landscape with contrasting coasts and a collection of small villages; the urban and suburban centre stretching from Swansea to Gorseinon and Pontarddulais; and the coastal strip around Swansea Bay

Both quotes taken from the official city and county of Swansea website.

Magicdaps,

You have just proved my point. Administrative / logistical convenience. And you obviously went to all that trouble researching info to back up my point too. Bless.

I love the fact that you are soooooooo easy to wind up. Like shooting fish in a barrel. All I did was drop the bait & you bit straight away. Pavlovian reflex, eh?

How's the cave? Discovered fire yet?

My fire works just fine thankyou. Not that I use it much nowadays. I use this new fandangled system called central heating. It keeps the whole cave warm. Fantastic invention!

Anyway, I'm sorry to inform you that the only point I've proved is my own. That is to say that the Gower is very much part of the city and county of Swansea. Did you not read the quotes I so kindly provided? The Gower is not only administratively part of the city and county of Swansea, but also politically, and geographically. So in what way exactly is the Gower not part of Swansea? Read the quotes, take time to digest their content, and then come back and apologise to me. Lets see if you're a bigger man than that Garethwilts, from whom I'm still waiting my apology. I haven't forgotten Gareth. I never forget!

My God, you are persistently stupid. You continue to make my point for me but are too dull to realise it.

I will type this really slowly to give you a chance to understand .......

The Gower is a peninsula jutting out from the south coast of Wales. Swansea is not located on that peninsula, unless you are confusing it with Rhossilli. Swansea is to be found on the adjacent east coast - the same stretch of east coast from the Gower where Bridgend, Barry and Cardiff are also found. Geographically therefore Swansea has as much to do with the Gower as Cardiff does.

What does that leave us with then? A connection between Gower and Swansea that is a recent artificial construct designed entirely for the convenience of the administration of local government. It is a temporary arrangement that is just as likely to alter in the future as the status quo, depending on the whims of those in authority. The current local authority arrangement only came into existence in the late 1990s. It took a different format during the years between 1973 to 1997 or thereabouts , and before 1973 the Gower was part of the county of Glamorgan - the same county that housed Cardiff, it's administrative centre!!

During all those administrative changes the geographical location of Gower, Swansea, Cardiff or even Timbuktu-fuckin-tu didn't alter. So the only explanation for a relationship between Gower & Swansea is due to administrative convenience, which may change in the future.

So my analogy is still relevant, dull boy. Cardiff has a similar artificial claim to supremacy / hierarchical responsibility over the Gower as Swansea due to its status as your capital and as the seat of the devolved Welsh Assembly, as both cities' relationship to that place is based on the concept of administrative expediency alone.

In the final analysis this is all a load of bollocks. The Gower is not Swansea. It is a separate peninsula.

And you still live in a cave and there is no way you have got central heating installed in it. That concept is 30,000 years too advanced for you!!!

In all honesty it depends who you ask. I was born and brought up in Penclwadd, a village in north Gower, and I always considered myself Jack first and foremost, and if anyone asked me where I'm from, I would say Swansea. Some of the more stuck up individuals would probably say "one resides on the Gaaar", but these people are usually rich English types, who have moves to god's own country to enjoy their retirement. To be fair, most people I grew up with when asked where they're from by a local would say the Gower or name a specific village, but if they're talking to someone from further afield, they would probably say they're from Swansea. That's as honest an answer as I can give you.

thanks for reply.it would seem to me that its been a new creation and moved in with swansea for admin/council purposes.what you say about what people would say is a bit like where i live.i live in cannock .the admin /council area is cannock chase which covers a big area. if you spoke to anyone who lives in the chase they would the name of the village not cannock.if they were away from here they,d lump in with the biggest town nearby .either cannock or rugeley or maybe even stafford if they live that way on.stafford is,nt in the cannock chase catchment area.it is a nice area were you live.i was at porthcawl a few year ago and went to swansea/as it was raining we headed out of swansea in the car .i drove up by the airport .very nice round there.loved porthcawl .thanks again

Anyone with any sort of intellectual capacity would not resort to calling someone a cocksucker, simply because of a difference of opinion. Lowering the tone as you have, tells me everything I need to know about the sort of person you are. No fancy stats needed here, personal opinion is perfectly adequate in your case sunshine.
