As it stands they would owe him all 3 years pay if he was sacked

Is that a fact?

Well it's the case with DJ and other managers like Martin oneil when he was at Celtic. I've not heard of a Rolling contract longer than a year but that's not to say it couldn't happen I guess.

If a manager is sacked before the end of his contract and no escape clauses they are entitled to the money they are owed.

Which tells me he is on a lot less than what he was with us. Tbh it would be interesting to know how much.

I would think he is on less but lucky for them they don't have PR in charge.
I doubt it's pennies though. 3 year deal pretty normal for a manager.

Yep 3 years is normal. Although not pennies I cant see it being something to brag about. I would say there would be a substanstial bonus for promotion which perhaps was the real attraction for Jones. A team that is too big for that league plus place safely in a play off spot makes the onus achieveable hey, who knows?

Oh no, any good man will look for a good payment. It's a very good job to get, massive club.
I will wish him well, others won't but in the end he will be judged on the criteria set which is promotion.

Said some daft things did Dave in his time and he isolated himself from the fans and the local press in the end .For that the man is a gimp but as far as I am concerned Dave gave us some very good times supporting the City and we never had it so good.

I no we never quite achieved are goals while he was manager but there was a fine line between success and failure and unfortunately for Dave he will be remembered as a failure.

He took the club forward in his time and took us to the FA cup final a playoff final and a playoff semi final not many City managers have that on there CV so for me its a mixed bag of emotions for Dave but I would say thanks for everything and all the best at Wednesday. :ayatollah:

Good post

Some will counter that by saying 'he had the biggest budget in city history' but that budget was peanuts compared to the teams we were up against ie brum, wolves, newcastle, qpr, west brom, forest.etc plus he had to constantly sell to survive.

He didnt stab Megson in the back at all, He said to MM "make the change" its f*cking obvious he wanted Megson out or he wouldnt have approached DJ in the first place!

It was DJ's time to leave but you anti-DJ people still look for any reason to have a go at him, even when he refused to discuss terms with a club who still had a manager.....its very very sad that you lot cant leave DJ alone and not at our club anymore. What he does is irrelevant.

I suppose some of you will say anything to get brownie points off Annis

Well Craig I've been accused of twisting words and now saying anything to get brownie points off Annis, in my opinion both accusations are complete nonsense as I'm my own man with my own opinions and no one can doubt my view on Dave Jones. I think he is an arsehole.

Since being accused of twistingthe words of his BBC Sheffield radio interview I have stayed silent but now you have decided to have a dig well I'm going to reply.

Firstly what I said about his reply to the interviewer which was "Going by your behaviour in the press conference I've walked into a hellhole" is 100% accurate yet 2blue has decided to accuse me of twisting, I did nothing of the sort. In fact 2blue claim that the interviewer laughed out loud is nonsense what the guy said in reply was "O come on". That in my opinion is some way from laughing out loud. In my opinion what 2Blue has done is put his interpretation on the interviewers reply to justify his accusation that I have twisted things to suit my viewpoint. Pot, Kettle and Black come to mind.

Another thing in my original post which both 2Blue and yourself agree on is that DJ has done nothing wrong, well in my opinion he has, as Bakedalska has said DJ is a man who thinks the world owes him a living. During the interview he even went our of his way to say,

"Should I have left Cardiff after finishing 3rd, and getting to an FA Cup Final? My view will always be yes and he should of gone the day we missed out on the playoffs at Sheffield Wednesday. Other than that of course WHEN EXACTLY DID HE FINISH 3RD WHILST HE WAS AT CARDIFF. The answer is NEVER, it's a lie, it's bullshit but on planet DJ he thinks he actually did finish 3rd. Further proof of the guy being a deluded arsehole.

To justify his role in Megson losing his job he even said in the interview "There is no reason to fall out with each other. We are in a business where it happens. He followed me into Stockport and now I have followed him into a job 16 or 17 years later"

When DJ left Stockport County he did so because Southampton came calling, agreed terms with Stockport for compensation, and DJ moved on. Stockport County then interviewed for a manager and appointed Gary Megson. Only an arsehole like DJ could compare that situation with what has just happened at Sheffield Wednesday, MM called DJ whilst GM was still employed asked him if he fancied the job and DJ said MAKE THE CHANGE AND GIVE ME A CALL.

To me that has only one meaning when you have sacked your manager I'm your man. Only an arsehole like DJ could try and sell the Stockport situation with what has happened at Wednesday. In my opinion this desperate, and crass attempt at justifying whats happened, proves he has backstabbed another manager. It also proves again the is ptepared to lie to justify his position.

Earlier this season he said on Goals On Sunday that he fell out with the local press in South Wales after they committed character assassination on Steve McPhail when he had just been diagnosed with cancer. That was a lie as he fell out with the guys at mediawales about SM one year earlier after he got sent off twice against Swansea in a few weeks. Detail doesn't matter to arseholes like DJ and he is prepared to lie over and over again to justify his behaviour.

He also banned the local media from his press cnferences whilst at Wolves, why?, because they broke the 11th commandment "Tho shall not citicise DJ". At Wolves he had the media department send the local press a video of his press conferences. Sound familiar?

My point in the original post is that on the day he started his new job he decided to have a pop at a local media guy. And he absolutely did and I also asked will he ever learn. The answer is no, why?, because he is an arsehole.

My opinion and in no way expressed to curry favour with Annis.

I hope he does well. I like Wednesday. I know Jones is a drip but it's not his fault that we didn't sack him sooner. He might do well. I thought he was better than Cork, Lawrence and the old fella from the Wombles but not as good as Neil, Borrows or Eddie May.

My "dig" about brownie points wasn't aimed at anyone in particular, just in general. If it was aimed at you Castleblue i would have named you.

DJ is a better manager than Megson.

Im sure they'l be fine.

Dont see why we have to keep going on about DJ when we have a new manager, new team and a big game today against one of the bigger clubs in the country?
