Gerrard was clearly upset and celebrated our goals more than Bellamy celebrated theirs.

He is a good centre half in this league and we may well need him to do a lot more before this season is over - lets not get on his back.

It was a good performance, and we now need to go one better in the competition that really matters. :ayatollah:

Missing a pen doesn't make Gerrard a shit player, his ability does make him a very average player though.

I think Gerrard was put out on loan because of his weight. He clearly wasn't fit abd I remember thinking that he'd appeared a little overweight. He went to Hull and if I'm not mistaken wasn't he voted by Hulls fans as player of the season or something?

Someone I know that went to wembly said that Bellamy went over to have a chat with nearly all the city players Inc malky Mackay and shunned much of the celebrations that were going on to talk to our players.

Also I think it's hugely important to not be seen to be criticising players (even if it's what we privately think). Good or bad, love them or hate them, they are all we got and they are trying to get us promotion as much as we want it.

Just saying.

I thought Gerrard had been sent out on loan because he had become a fat b*****d, nothing to do with Sunday but I much prefer Keinan to Gerard.
However, as long as Gerard is in our team he gets my full support, I was among those shouting for him to do the :ayatollah: after his miss on Sunday.

Gerrard is a hero, end of discussion.

Players get upset because they feel like they let the fans down; no players let me down. However, someone reading this shite could be forgiven for thinking they did.

To anyone questioning Gerrard, I suggest you watch Turners goal again and see Gerrards reaction. Pure and utter joy. There is no question in my mind that he wanted to win as much as anyone.

Very true and Gerrard is an Everton supporter not Liverpool!

Yes Gerrard made a sloppy pass to Kuyt for their second goal, but whilst he took a rubbish penalty, were there that many other obvious options for Malky to pick from? I don't think so and at least he had the bottle to give it a go!

Find it hard to believe that there are so many one eyed people on here having a go at Gerrard and everybody singing Hudson's praise!

I don't like having a pop at any of our players individually or collectively either, but to balance matters, everybody has forgotten the clearance that Hudson made straight to Charlie Adam in the first half, that winged it's way just passed Heaton's post, or his attempted clearance with his knee?

This isn't me just coming on here to have a pop at Hudson, as I thought he played very well overall considering he's been out for several weeks and I do think that he's a better option than Gerrard atm, but had Adam's shot gone in, everybody wouild have all been on here slagging him off, instead of Gerrard!

You're unbelievable

Not everyone's having a go at Gerrard - actually the complete opposite.

Balance matters?! You love laying into Hudson don't you?! Who the f**k remembers one clearance that resulted in nothing?! And what 'attempted clearance with his knee'?!

'This isn't me just coming on here to have a pop at Hudson'     Yeah right!

Well I thought he was an Everton fan, as most of his family are split between red & blue!

I'm not convinced that you are right though and I went to watch Arsenal v Aston Villa in the 80's, as I was in London on a course and managed to get a ticket!

Doesn't mean that I support either of them (which I don't btw), as I just wanted to watch a bit of footie! :)

Its not like he is in Iraq dodging bullets, or performing life saving surgery on someone, he only had to take a kick from 12 yards for f**k sake.

Agree with most of this, as I used to take all my team's penalties and spent nearly 13 years in the Army!

However, there were clearly many a City player who clearly chose not to step up, so IMO it's harsh to criticise Gerrard for at least having a go!

He IS a Liverpool fan. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17151540 (9th paragraph) I hardly think the brother of Steven Gerrard's father would be an Evertonian, even in view of the fact most families are divided.

Carragher definitely was but after Liverpool lost that FA Cup semi-final away to Man Utd in '99 in the last minute, Carragher walked into his local pub (an Everton one) and they all started laughing at him apparently. He finally turned his back on them after that is what he's said.

Fowler was an Evertonian as well I think, but again he's Liverpool through and through now. Who does he play for these days anyway? I've lost track

I thought so, doesn't prove anything either way but shows its not alway black and white.

Fowler is "unattached". Set to sign for a new Indian league but it's been delayed but he hasn't signed anything

Fair play to gerrard for taking the penalty I think and him missing had nothing to do with him being a liverpool fan.

I think when he has been called on he has done his best for us.Every player who played on Sunday should be praised I have supported city for over 30 years and I cant think of any performance by any other city team that bettered that, that was just grit and determination from everybody and I am proud to support the club and that means Gerrard to. :ayatollah:

Then why do you seem to be the only fan who has actually picked on one mistake (that led to nothing) that only you could possibly recall (all this because you have such a grudge against a guy who played exceptionally well on his return from a month-long injury in a major cup final)?

And answer my question: what were you referring to when you said 'attempted clearance with his knee'? And when was the last time you saw Suarez contained so well?

Oh yeah, and the 'Dad' jibes are getting old and they don't really make any sense :?
