quote a There is not another professional American football league in the world on the level of the NFL ?
there is only one American football league so how could there be ?
simple fact its not a World Championship with only teams from U.S.A competing in it :ayatollah:

Anyone can play in the NFL there are zero homeland restrictions, there are people from other nations in the NFL. It is the top level of the sport in the world, if a billionaire from London wanted to buy a team and move them there the NFL would agree (this has been a hot topic in the media for a few years), it is not arrogence it is simple fact.

I guess we will just agree to disagree.....and you can be wrong ;)[/quot

Since the bastards stole Snowflake from the Miami Dolphins i never looked at American Football again in the same light .
Thank f**k Ace was in the area at the time ;)

then you have the st louis cardinals, becoming the phoenix cardinals the the arizona cardinals. now u av the st louis rams.

the indianapolis colts where the baltimore colts when they started.

its mad how people from a city just lose their team and think, oh well, a new one will be here in a few years we can support them then.. its not like the moved them 10 or 20 miles is it?

Yanks should move with the times as there are leagues in other countries now. Other countries always call them arrogant, dont do themselves many favours really. Shit game played by pussies in pads and hats! I got more respect for the egg than pussy football! Why is it football, thry throw the thing? Another stupid americanism

shame you have an opinion and you dont know what your talking about, go put some pads and hat (as you call it) on and have a go, you wouldnt last 5 mins...

Please dont compare rugby to american football completely different game!

Hey greenlawler, just one question, what is and how does the 'entry draft' work? I am an avid NHL fan and I often wonder what it means? : ?:

entry draft in the NHL or NFL?

The NFL works this way, the team that finished with the worst record has the rights to the first pick. The "world" ;) champions select last. The draft has become a huge deal and is watched by millions of Americans. This year the Indianapolis Colts will select first, and the New York Giants will pick last. The teams have one selection a round for 7 rounds. Any college player past his second year may apply for the draft. Then the players not drafted sign as free agents with specific teams and compete for roster spots with the drafted players. Not all drafted players make the team, 6th and 7th round pick are often cut.. Players not in college, or from other nations simply sign as free agents with specific teams and do not enter the draft. The rosters are then trimmed during the pre-season from like around 90 to 65. Players who showed promise but did not make it are signed to "reserve sqauds" but now that's too much info.

The NHL is way more complicated....In the NHL there are few restrictions, players from all non-professional leagues including college teams can be selected. This also includes leagues in Europe and junior leagues. The draft works the same way the NFL draft does in practice as the best team picks last, worst team picks first. The big difference is the player eligibility and where the players go after they are drafted. In the NHL most drafted players do not make the the roster in their first couple of years. Once a player is drafted the team has that player's rights. The player signs with that club but that does not mean he will ever play for them. They can return the player to the lower leagues still owning his rights for a limited time or roster him. If they roster him they have to then sign him to a contract. If a player is drafted and he does not make it to the NHL with the club that drafted him, or the alloted time of his rights runs out, he can resign with another club.

Hope that makes sense. My town has two American Pro Sport Franchises, and they compete in the NHL anf NFL we have the Nashville Predators and the Tennessee Titans.

This is why pretty much every NHL team has an affiliate team in the AHL which even though is a separate league to the NHL is widely considered as the " championship" and the NHL as the "premiership" where players can get called up to the big league or sent down to the minors. It pays off to have a good affiliate team.

If you get into it drafts can be extremely interesting does the general manager of a team who has a high draft pick take a chance on a well sought rookie and take the risk or do they trade their pick to another team for a more experienced player and a lower draft pick building for the future. Its interesting to see how different GM's work and even though the salary cap is stringently enforced different teams do have different budgets. There are examples of both working well, the Boston Bruins being a prime example who had the second draft pick in the first round and took a gamble on tyler seguin and it paid off he played a big part in them winning the stanley cup two years later.

Hockey is an intense sport but fun to watch and if you get the chance i recommend going down the bay to watch the cardiff devils who usually play away one day and home the next and vice versa every weekend. It can be dangerous though especially for taylor hall who was coincidently the 1st pick in seguins year who took a skate and puck to the head recently

And that works well until someone like Eli Manning comes along and refuses to play for a so-called lesser team and daddy insists he plays in New York.

Personally, I loves the NFL and quite like NHL, not fussed on NBA and hate baseball, while despising the wrestling...
Loves Cardiff City, hates Luton Town, likes athletics, can't stand cricket or rugby...
It's just the way I feel.

As far as calling the NY Giants world champions, who gives a toss, as said they've beaten the other two teams who in my opinion could currently be considered the best (Green Bay and New England), so let them have the title, though why they don't go the whole hog and call themselves galactic champions is beyond me. (Couldn't call themselves champions of the universe because I believe the game is played amongst a few star clusters in the Andromeda galaxy).
